GTX 670 or HD7950 ?

Would you recommend overclocking? I've never OC before due to not having a Gaming PC and I don't really know how to do it; but if it gives that better performance in the future for games like BF4 and Rome 2 then would you recommend overclocking a 7950?

To quote a Whyscotty, overclocking a gpu is free performance, so yes i would definitely recommend it. Its easily done as well for AMD users as ive written a basic guide on how to do it here.

I think you are most certainly swaying my decision to buy the 7950 and OC it; will take a look at the guide. Regarding temperatures would my spec I'm building on post #36 be fine with this card?

If you don't overclock, you should be banned from this forum. :D

Overclocking is enjoyable, sometimes its nice to know you have more performance you can use if you need it. Some games will definitely benefit from the extra speed where as others won't need it and you can run at stock. With msi afterburner (the tool i use in the guide) you can set up different profiles using different clock speeds, voltage levels and then you can apply different profiles for different games as needed.

That spec will be perfect as well.

Lol, harsh. :p

Cheers guys; most certainly going to go for the Gigabyte 7950 now; any problems I get with OC expect some more questions when my build arrives. ;)

Again, thank you!

I'm still running my GBWF3 7950 at stock (currently playing Crysis 3, what a beautiful looking game!) having played Far Cry 3, Tomb Raider, Hitman etc. Will be like getting a new card when I do eventually OC as I know it will do 1250 core. :D

Glad you made your decision.

If you overclock a 670 its just as fast as a 7950 if not faster in most games and costs the same.

I ordered the Gigabyte 7950 today, very excited for this! Have to wait for my parts to come to build the PC. Just checking it will fit and all the connections will be there right? :D

Edit your post to remove the competitor name. :)

Sorry to bother you again guys but just another quick question; I'm sure it's pretty obvious but I want everything to go right first time etc, but you connect the HDMI from the Graphics Card to the monitor right?

Just ordered a nice ASUS Monitor from this weeks deals from OC now just need to wait for everything to turn up. Giga 7950 is coming tomorrow :D
