Things to do in New York And Boston at night

I'm guessing the answer will probably be sleep but...

I may have an overnight stopover at Boston and New York on my next trip, landing at about 10pm, leaving at about 7am. Is anything open between those times? I'm guessing there won't be shopping available at midnight and just bars and clubs open?

With the new York stopover I will be transferring from JFK to Newark airports, anything interesting in between and what's the best way between them at night?
 
Go up the Rockefeller building in the dark, and see New York that way. It's open til 2am :)

We walked over the Boston Bridge at night and the view is great from there too. Rockefeller is also a brilliant view - we went at dusk time to watch the sun set and the lights all go on slowly. Too many French kids there when we went though - our lift was full of French football chanting :(

1) Take Airtrain to Jamaica Station from JFK
2) Take Long Island Rail Road to Penn Station, Manhattan.
3) DO STUFF111""1111!!!
4) Take NJTransit express train from Penn Station, Manhattan to Newark Airport.

Probably the quickest yet cheapest way to do it.

Fairly horrible travel itiniary though, what made you go for those flights?!

No. 3 is the big question! It looks kinda like there is no real reason to spend a lot of time traipsing around in the middle of the night just to go up one building (saw a flight which is JFK-JFK). Possibly sleeping in the terminal or a nearby hotel is better then!

Price and the inability to find any flights without an overnight stop to where I want to go. The latter is the biggie and the former saves me about £500.
 
If you have luggage with you then going around the city isn't so convenient. I would probably just have a nap at the airport, it's only 9 hours.

pretty much every metro area in this country is a crime filled *** hole. All it would take is for the welfare cheques to stop showing up and it would turn in to this in every city. You got a glimpse of it yourself last year or whenever it was in the UK.
