Female genital mutilation victim was 'aged just seven'

Probably wouldn't change much though in all honesty. By the time someone reached consenting age, they would have been brainwashed by their peers and/or religion into taking the change.

It's going to take a lot of brainwashing for a guy to have something cut off his penis, and if they still do at 18, that's their choice. It's not something the parents should make the decision for.

circumcision isn't the same,

In fact im glad my parents circumcised me so I didn't have filthy ant eater penis.

FGM is totally different ballgame...

Not quite the same but they are both still unnecessary mutilation.

Unfortunately for you, your parents also saw to it that your penis is now much less sensitive than a normal one.

TBH I have no problems whatsoever with sensitivity

How would you know the difference? If my bell is hanging out due to .. err.. "bunching" and touches my trousers it is EXTREMELY sensitive and very uncomfortable. To have no protection down there makes me shudder and cross my legs.

A high degree of rationalisation must be required to think that having your own genitals mutilated by your parents is perfectly fine & dandy.

Regardless as to if you are pleased about it now, nobody else had the right to make that choice on your behalf.

oh look. another thread on circumcision. well, actually a thread on female genital mutilation that has inevitably turned into a discussion on circumcison. what are we up to now, 5? bit bizarre really.

Is it less important every time it's brought up?

is constantly raising what issue you obviously have with circumcision really important? is it really a 'general discussion' one may expect to find on a pc based internet forum. i swear there's been about 5 threads on it since i joined in 2009.

why don't you join a medical forum or mumsnet?

Have I touched a nerve? This is the general discussion part of a forum, where you can talk about pretty much whatever you like. I think this is an important issue, so wish to discuss it. I'm evidently not the only person on this forum who has an issue with genital mutilation and circumcision, and I think it's inhuman that you seem to think that it's a non-issue.

Why would it surprise you when a thread about female genital mutilation expands to include male genital mutilation?

Have I touched a nerve?
Maybe these threads are getting under his skin.
