No but only gay men have to be basically celibate to be able to donate.
Why would straight black men be excluded? Exclusions aren't made on the basis ofprevalencerace just like that. All samples are tested.
Edit: Sexual contact with people from high risk areas are still taken into account (see below).
If it is not based on the prevalence of infection, as the blood donor service states, what is it based on? If it is based on prevalence, why are black men allowed to donate when the prevalence is higher? The logic her fails.
And, as you say yourself. All samples are tested. So why ban gay men? They are testing the samples anyway.
