*** The Official Microsoft Surface Pro Thread ***

Guys from work are in HK at the mo so I might get a few brought back, HK should be 3 pin 240v same as the UK ones, Pro doesnt come with a keyboard so thats not an issue.
What other differences should I expect, bar the obvious language on the box thing....?
 
Now we've seen Haswell's launch and the potential power savings therein, I've decided to wait for the next version of the Surface Pro. I still have my RT for Office use and that keeps getting better and better with every update.
 
Unfortunately they have not mentioned anything about Haswell based Surface Pro's yet so we have no idea when they will actually be available.

MS seem to like to drag their heels getting these things out the door.
 
I doubt we will here about a haswell surface for a while, I expect it will be out when win8.1 is out and as the flagship device and not before. As they've only just released the pro in more than one market I doubt they'll give much of a heads up and even more people would wait.

Speaking of Win8.1, the refinements they seem to have made and additions look very good.
 
Well, I caved and bagged one on Saturday along with a type cover. I figured, even if MS announce a Haswell version at Build this week, it's going to be tied to the Win 8.1 launch in October and probably won't make it across the channel until 2014 anyway.

I have to say, I really love the device. The type cover is really nice and much better than the touch cover. Battery life isn't great but we knew this. Getting about 4.5hrs.
 
Anyone grabbed a folio/case for theirs yet?
I've already got a ThinkPad dock/replicator thing on my desk waiting for it to be plugged into mine when it gets here.

Originally ordered on the 24th, chased it, nobody could help, was showing as in process on the MSStore, had it escalated twice before it turns out my original order was "stuck" in the system. Order cancelled, re-ordered with a discount code and got £100 off it, not bad given I'm getting a 128Gb Pro, Touch Cover and a spare PSU...
Should be here by Thursday, if its not many merry hells will be unleashed..

I'd recommend changing the settings when on battery, to limit CPU usage to 75%. This prevents the device from going into turbo mode on a single threaded application. Its made a huge difference on battery life for me. I regularly get over 5 hours now on mine.

I've done this.
I got about 4 hours total runtime yesterday but that was with me installing lots of programs, syncing up my (large) SkyDrive folder and not letting it sleep.

Ive been looking for a case / sleeve for mine. Ive not really seen anything yet that takes my fancy. Does anyone recommend any?

Also on a side note, I have a Surface RT adapter which works fine with charging and using the device at work.
 
Thought the Pro was a higher wattage or something?
I ordered a spare for at work then I'll just leave the other at home.
I got a car charger for the RT, be good for weekends away if the car one for the RT works on the Pro..

The Pro adapter is 42w and the RT adapter is 24w. The RT one works but it just charges slow, which is to be expected.

I've not seen a car charger one for the device yet, is this from the rainforest?
 
Still waiting for mine to arrive from my second order after the first was cancelled.
Apparently I'm going to be compensated for my wait, be interesting what they offer as I've already had £100 discount..
 
Hows everyones network, mine keeps falling off wifi and usb network when it falls asleep, doesnt do it all the time but its really chuffing annoying...
 
Anyone got blurring issues when using the DP port, I've gone through the Clearview stuff but its made no difference at all...

Mine works perfectly when plugged into a 27" running at 2560 x 1440.
