Looks likely I'm going to get a HD7950. Owned Nvidia cards since the classic ATI 9700pro. Should I be concerned about the 7950 and any driver issues. Should I hold out for a 6600ti or 670 Nvidia. Is indeed the 7950 the "Best value" top end card. Thankyou.

Nothing to worry about driver wise, can't believe I'm going to say this, but if anything AMD are quite robust in comparison to Nvidia's latest offerings in the driver dept.

The 760 releases tomorrow iirc, though I imagine it will be priced@~£280 if that's in your price range and you want to stick with Nvidia.:)

From what I've read. It's the 760 from nvidia that's being compared to the HD7950 performance. I may be wrong. But as the HD7950 can be had for 210 or there abouts, the 760 seems pointless if indeed it tops 280.

I hate doing this but I have to agree. Nvidia need to sort their act out and provide stable drivers.

670 is the best nvidia choice right now at only £230, the 7950 has the games if you want them, Both around equal in performance when overclocked. out of the box 670 is faster.

Take your pick.

In your opinion. A 7950 @ around £200 with games is a better choice imho. I think the 7950 pulls ahead when overclocked, especially if gaming at higher resolutions, the larger bus on the 7950 comes in handy..

Got my 7950's running Titan memory bandwidth speeds :) £130 each can't complain :p.

Lol Scotty like me he had a lot of codes to sell i think. Still thats much less than what i paid he got his 7950's for £199 though on special offer from a competitor. I saw the link but they were sold out by the time i tried to buy.

I still have my codes to sell but i reckon ill have paid about £375 for my 2x7950's.

@Ian and Broom

Overclocked 770 in Tomb Raider (1080p, Ultimate preset + TressFX) vs an Overclocked 7950. I'll eat my hat if Ian's 670 can get near that score. :D :p

Maybe if i had tomb rider yes , but i dont like any of the rider games. so no.

If i was buying a gfx card now comming from a gtx 4** or hd5*** i would not know what to buy for myself, Like i said back then if AMD's 7970 was cheaper at launch i would have one.

No one can say for certain that the 7950 is a "faster" card when overclocked than a 670 overclocked, and vice versa, other than what review sites show.

The price of your 7950's get cheaper and cheaper each time you post

You are right matey. AMD sent me more codes, I even kept a load of the games and cards worked out at £130 each after selling the rest :D

Happy days ;)

Nice, I've got the 7970 Ghz bios on my 7950's thanks to the guys over at oc.net, performance is awesome. someone is customizing a bios for me for higher clock speeds at lower volts, decent bunch over there :D

Completely off topic but I just have to say that regardless of how much you sell the game codes for you still need the cash for the original purchase price of the card, the cheapest 7950 here is £217.99, I really don't know any store that you could go into and say I'll give you £170 and pay the rest when I've sold the added extras.

If you sell a car 6 months after buying it for £500 less than you paid for it you wouldn't go round saying that you bought it for £500 as it would be simply untrue.

The HD7950 had some bad driver issues at launch but that was a year and a half ago, its a well oiled machine now firing on every cylinder and would be my first port of call if I was getting a GPU :)

Pointless post.

Bought my cards, sold the codes, as I bought my cards on plastic and the code money went straight back into my account, that was £60 SAVED, whatever the spin.
