Publishing a large novel? Any tips?

An update!

I think the book is exceptionally well written, and noticed no errors upon reading. However the author thinks it needs a proof read/editing. Anyone got any good recommendations? They're also working on their second book, but want to give this one a good effort.

They've registered the domain for the book, and they're considering both self published and conventional publishing.

Conventional publishing looks good, but it looks bloody difficult to get anything picked up!

Self publishing looks more rewarding, but looks exceptionally difficult to get started. :/

I know a few folk who offer proof reading and editing services, but couldn't quote for them unfortunately. Would offer to do it myself at "mates rates" but I'm lacking time at the moment for what sounds like a rather large piece of work!

Can Trust you some info if your friend would like an immediate reputable contact?

Sounds great to me thanks! :)

It was a gif of a woodchipper, with red stuff shooting out.

I found out it was from a movie but still felt innapropriate.

I'm a writer and editor. You can send me the first couple of chapters if you like and I'll see if I can help you. I don't have a great deal of time at the moment - not enough to proofread such a huge wordcount. That is, unless I really like it. I will be able to give you honest advice about its quality, at least. Contact me via trust if you fancy that.

As for self-publishing (or, direct publishing as it is known these days), it is actually quite easy to get started. Sometimes the preparation of the manuscript for electronic conversion can be annoying, though. The really hard part is marketing the books by yourself. The royalties are through the roof compared to bricks & mortar publishing houses, though.
