Hi guys, looking in to buying a new fully modular PSU (thinking on the EVGA 650W PSU) and going with single sleeve on the whole lot.

How much sleeve should I buy?

Well a roll of sleeve from *cough* (from Germany) comes in a length of 25 meters and that was enough to sleeve...

6x PCI-e (6-pin)
entire PSU non modular
single modular 24-atx

So for a single power supply knowing you are going to want more than less I would say around 8 meters give or take. Keep in mind it isn't going to work perfectly each time and you will most likely throw some away when you mess up.

* also if you haven't looked into it you can sleeve with para-cord, much cheaper than sleeving and gives you a nice rope like finish. You can pick up 50meters of that stuff for around £7 just pull out the white strands and you get a nice sleeve of nylon cotton blend.

I used about 65 feet on an SFX psu and a few bits and pieces. As above go for paracord, it's cheaper and really nice quality. I paid £6 for 100 feet iirc.

Thanks guys. I've seen a lot of people raving about the German manufactured stuff, but it does seem expensive. Might look in to the paracord option.

I still have some in red if you want to see what it's like. Can send you 15 feet or so of it, just trust me your details.

Sleeving received Raikiri, had a bash last night, and I love paracord.

Will be placing an order soon in preparation for new PSU.

On a lighter note ATX removal tools are a pain in the ****

Haha yes they are, I used a couple of staples to remove the 24/6/8 pin ones. Molex and S-ata are nice and easy though as long as they aren't the sealed ones.

Don't suppose you could post a guide on how to do the molex and sata could you?

For the molex ones I had a tool that made it very easy, cost £2-3 on eBay. It's basically just a metal tube with 2 different diameters for the different pins.

The Sata cables just have a cap that pops of the cables pop out, then they can be refitted at any length needed.

So, I managed to get myself a 24pin extension and used up some of the paracord I bought (some of raikiri's too).

Now waiting on getting round to taking my 8 pin extension out and sleeving that in black and blue as well as waiting on a 15cm PCIe extension to go before bunging them all back inside my rig.

I only wish I could have got black connectors...
