Bit of a read, but was wondering if I am being unreasonable with this buyer. Sent him a second chance offer on a Corsair SSD he was bidding on and lost, I had a OCZ SSD that I needed to sell which I offered to him at his last bid.

Buyer said:
You have sent the wrong item and it won't detect in windows as apposed to my other ocz drive so I know this is faulty , I'm not happy with this I just hope it's a mistake in your behalf negative left as I spent all night trying to sort this , but now know you have already done this , angry

Hi, I have not sent the wrong item.

A) I assume you did not read your second chance offer? Which said

"Hi, I have another ssd OCZ vertex 2 120gb that your welcome to have at your last bid. Pretty much identical drives, just a different brand"

B) The drive was tested the day it was sent and was 100% working. Sometimes you have to initiate the drive for windows to recognise it.

Right click on "My Computer" > Select "Manage" > Select "Disk Management" and have a look if the drive is listed there. If it is there and is black you have to initialise the disk.

If that does not work, check in your motherboard bios (usually by tapping the "Delete" on boot to see if the drive is being detected by the motherboard, if not try a different sata cable.

If all of above fails it may be possible the drive may have been damaged in transport, although it was packed well. If this is the case please return item for a full refund including return postage.

I apologise for the inconvenience caused but as you can see I did send the correct drive as per the 2nd chance offer sent to you.

I can't leave feedback for 7 days but I will be ASAP , this isn't an identical drive as
Stipulated in second chance offer and
It's Without it's IDE case and instructions on top of all that I'd won't work iv left a support ticket with ocz and getting
It checked at local pc repair
Shop these are bargain drives unlike
The corsair it's a premium item , ebay
Policy says it
Must be the same as
Original item !!!! Blatant

Not sure what an IDE case is but assume he is referring to a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter.

Hi, in not sure why you are so eager to leave negative feedback when I have offered you a full refund including return postage. The drive was clearly described as an "OCZ Vertex 2" and the capacity and performance are pretty much identical. Actually the Corsair reactor series is a "bargain drive" considering it is a lower end Corsair model, whilst the OCZ Vertex is the premium model in OCZ's line up.

Anyhow, please return the drive for a refund as you are not happy with item. Do not allow 3rd parties to tamper with drive considering I have offered you a refund.

Not sure what you describe as "blatant" when I gave you the model number and brand of the drive I had available.

You simply broke the trading terms and sent a comparable non working item
, understand ?

I sent you the drive I described, you accepted this after being explicitly told the exact drive I had available. The drive was working when sent, if an item was damaged whilst in transport it is out of my control and it happens. It's not exactly uncommon for items to get damaged in transport, yes we both would prefer the item to reach you in perfect working order. it's the after service that is important and I have responded to your messages in a timely manner and have offered you a full refund including return postage. Not really sure what else I can do.

I think you can tell , my time wasted
Is whats got my
Back up , I really can't get that back , ware are the accessories ?

These things happen, I've been through them myself, so can understand your frustration. As a seller all I can is resolve any issues within a timely manner, as anything else is out of my control.

It was just a bare drive, the corsair one had a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter included and no other accessories offered. I admit it was an oversight on my behalf, regarding the 2.5" to 3.5" adapter. In fact I have a few spare lying around which I would gladly send out at request.

Comment: Dear valued customer, thank you for your inquiry.
I'm sorry about the issues you experience using our products.
Please perform a firmware update, followed by a Secure Erase, as described here:

iv done this and it now comes up in windows , I don't know what the problem was but its done now although its taken my time and patience id like compensation and the said carrier to fit it in desktop and put an end to the matter £15 would suffice considering I was up all night and most of the day trying to sort this considerate feedback will be left

Hi, l will send you the 2.5" to 3.5" adapter tommorrow. I will not how ever refund you £15, as the item is as described and it is not for me to compensate you for your time getting a drive to work on your system. Ssd was tested on my system prior to dispatch and was working fine, so looks like it was a compatibility problem with your system fixed with a firmware update. You are welcome to return the item for a full refund if you are not happy. Thank you

The drive read and wrote files as
An external
Drive but windows wouldn't detect I'm sure you didn't test this ??? It had some Asus files left on it ill be reporting the whole thing to ebay you have my predicament ill leave it
Their

I've repeated to you multiple times, drive was used by me and was retested prior to dispatch. Why would you suggest I am lying in regards to testing drive? I dont take too kindly to this when i have given you no reason to doubt me. When it's been in my pc for the last year??? Like I suggested to you in my very first message in all likelyhood you needed to initiate drive for windows to detect it

Ends here, starting to get a little aggravated now, and my spider senses are pretty much saying buyer is being as awkward as possible simply to blackmail me with negative feedback to get some money back.

He also says he had to firmware update and hard erase, (which would have wiped everything) yet in the very next message says " had some Asus files left on it ", if he had to hard erase drive how did he know there were Asus files on the SSD since it wasn't working prior to the firmware update/hard reset? I transferred a GB of files before shipping just to make sure drive was working fine.

If you want to sell on ebay again, send him £15 and move on with your life and forget it ever happened. Hopefully you will attract a more competent buyer next time. However, if you don't care about the negative feedback then be stubborn and do nothing more I guess. Ebay won't do anything to get rid of the feedback as it is the buyers opinion despite what I agree is bordering on blackmail. The problem is, he is right, you did break ebay policy. You gave a second chance offer to a different item than the original. That would be confusing for even a sane person, let alone a noob like him. Yes, I know he agreed to it but he obviously skim read and just saw "identical drive".

Honestly? I think you should hunt him down and end him, you'll be doing the world a service. If you send him the £15, do us all a favour and end yourself. :)

See this is why I just avoid ebay like the damn plague.... Too many scammers and loons trying to rip off us honest folks, and that includes ebay and paypal with their ridiculous fee's!

Wait, so you offered him a different drive to the one you advertised for sale, as a second chance offer after someone bought the aforementioned item? Under eBay T&Cs this would count as fee avoidance (not using a separate listing inuring additional fees) would it not? Maybe I've grasped the wrong end of this stick...

Also, it seems you have sold it to Tony Williams from these very same forums :D

Selling fees and PayPal fees still get charged, thought it would just be simpler and easier offering the other drive to bidder at his last bid.

Probably my mistake here, but in defence I think I made it rather clear what was being offered.

You forgot listing fees. It might only be a matter of pennies rather than pounds but it is sure to give eBay a reason not to help you out

Continue to be as polite as possible but don't give him any money. If he leaves neg feedback take it on the chin.

This. A knob like that does not deserve anything. That said, I don't know how much feedback you have to offset any bad feedback he leaves. You can reply to feedback can you not?

I'd just try and get the drive back, unfortunately if he complains to ebay you will lose drive and money.

I don't think there's much risk of that, because if he starts a dispute I will simply request item to be returned.

My issue is I have 100% positive feedback over many years, and have a eBay "Top Rates Seller" award, which I'm not to pleased to see blemished because of some moron trying to save a quick buck or two. If item had something missing or was partially damaged etc I would happily give the buyer a partial refund to compensate, but not willing to be blackmailed for a perfectly good item.

this Is why I hope ebay go belly up.

no matter what you do in this situation your loosing out. ebay/paypal will side with the idiot buyer who is obviously trying to blackmail you as well. go round his house and poo in his letter box

You missed a trick here.

Simply replying with "did I leave my porn on there again?" would have set him off :D

Problem here is you sold him a diff drive to the second chance offer, but as your offering to return and refund him i would just do that. Forget about the negative feedback, just don't amass them.

What a nob. But you should never use second chance and send a diffrentn item, that is asking for trouble.

Understand the frustration of the guy, as he probably just assumed it was the same drive without reading the second chance offer. You are partially at fault.

He is however being pretty obnoxious. At this point accept that he will give you negative feedback, because you shouldn't let him blackmail you.

What other accessories were there with the other drive?
