In an act of inexplicable viciousness, 31-year-old fantasist Linsey Attridge chanced upon a photograph of Philip and his then 14-year-old brother James and used it to back up a story she’d concocted. She’d done it, apparently, in order to win some sympathy with her boyfriend, when she feared his affections were waning.

This article has made me rage so hard, the victims life is effectively ruined, he'll always have this hanging over his head, and when people don't know the full story, they'll just think he's some rapist.

Yet she'll get away with it and no one will care

I seriously think woman who do this should face jail time for wasting police time.

MAN!!!

She's clearly mentally ill and should be locked up in a padded room for the rest of her life.

Saw this yesterday and raged also. The worrying thing is that it's so easy to accuse anyone of anything... You just have to hope justice prevails :(

This sort of thing is why I do believe men accused of rape, or any sexual offence, should have anonymity which is lifted IF they are found guilty.

I can never understand how bad rape is for a woman, and everything should be done for them in genuine cases, but things like this need to be treated very harshly.

Agree, nothing should be made public until they are convicted.

That's the problem, justice did prevail, but it has ruined the last 2 years of this guys life - and by proxy his wife and daughters'.

This woman should be behind bars, not stuck with community service.

Someone who's found to have purposely falsely accused someone of a crime should be forced to do the time the person they accused would have done if found guilty.

Exactly this - I really don't understand why it's not the case. There's the stupid reason "it gives the opportunity for more victims to come forward" well, why not give out the accuser's name as well, so that if they're lying, it gives the opportunity for more victims to come forward?:mad:

My opinion is that if a women is found to have made false accusations of rape against a man, she should be jailed for the time he would have been if it actually had happened.

Things like this can ruin somebodies life.

When i read about it, i was raging as well. I hope they nail her sick mind to the wall and give her some jail time. There is no way she should be allowed to get away with what she did to an innocent man with a slapped wrist.

Hasn't she already been sentanced - 200 hours of community service?
