I don't believe Fergie dropped him for no reason. He was in a bad patch of form, sure. But shifting him all around the pitch and trying to get him to do things that he isn't cut out for (ie. CM) isn't going to help that either.

I agree. He should have been dropped altogether. Trying to fit a player into the team was a terrible mistake, we only really shone when we didn't try and force him into the team at the expense of people superior in those positions.

Ironic image given it features Bergkamp.

Newcastle are about to bid €29 million (£24.7M) for the two St. Etienne players.

Zouma+PEA

Seems there is a lot of weight to this as PEA said how Newcastle are a great club and he would love to play in England.

The move looks like it will be funded by the sale of Cabaye to psg

Aubameyang actually said Newcastle were a "good" club, not quite a great one. :D

Give me something ffs :P

Looks like there will be a bidding war between PSG and Monaco for Cabaye.

Knowing our luck we just end up with an unhappy player at the start of the season :o

So, I'm fast coming round to the idea that Arsenal aren't going to spend big again this season, I must be some kind of mug to think Wenger is going to finally change his tune after all these years. Think it must have been Gazidis getting my hopes up as there is really no other basis for it. Big name rumours, seasons tickets for sale, no big names come in. Has happened before.

There's no way Ashley would fork out £25m, especially before cashing in on Cabs.

Also, Aubameyang is flirting with at least 5 different clubs at the moment so I wouldn't read too much into his comments, but yes please, come forth Pierre!

I really believe there will be a large bid but it will fail as there is no way we match the others clubs wage offers and it all just be a smoke screen.

Any news on which English club bid on belhanda? I

think it's us small transfer fee as a replacement for Cabaye

Patience, we have a long summer to go yet. ;)

I don't think we will sign anyone else as big as Higuain. I think we have made an offer for that french guy at Lyon, midfielder. Forgot his name as just coming off nights.

Hopefully wake to good news that we have signed someone :D

I know there is a long way to go but just got a feeling nothing will happen with Hiuain and we'll end up with more average squad players. You on about Grenier? Yeah don't hold your breath lol.

Coutinho was a bit of that apparently

nah, spurs were never interested. Some Liverpool fans thought it would be funny to start the spurs in for him rumor a week or so after our 1st bid was rejected (ala Sigurdsson) and watched all the spurs fans go nuts over him. Then he signed for us.

this has made my friday

The Confederations Cup might have frustrated Spurs in their efforts to improve their first team so far this summer, but with the tournament ending this Sunday it could lead to two major signings next week, with David Villa and Paulinho both rumoured to be close to completing moves to White Hart Lane.

Villa has reportedly broadly agreed personal terms with Spurs, and confirmed that he would like to move to White Hart Lane whilst in talks with representatives from the club in Brazil. Andre Villas-Boas has apparently spoken to Villa on the phone, whilst Franco Baldini has been in talks with the striker’s agent.

Spurs are hoping to pay around £8million, and with Barcelona asking for nearer £12million, agreeing a fee with the Spanish club could be the main factor that holds up a move. Fiorentina are also interested in the 31-year-old.

The BBC last night reported that Spurs were set to complete their £17million move for Brazilian midfielder Paulinho next week , with the 24-year-old expected to agree personal terms once the Confederations Cup is finished.

Paulinho has said he will only consider an offer after the tournament finishes, but the Corinthians player has also said that Tottenham Hotspur are the only club to make an official bid thus far, despite rumours Real Madrid might enter the race under new manager Carlo Ancelotti. Spurs fans will hope that the move is done and dusted as soon as possible to stop other clubs having a chance to meet Paulinho’s £17millin release fee.

There are also new reports regarding Gareth Bale’s future today, with the Daily Star suggesting that Manchester United will make a bid for the Welshman if they fail in their attempts to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid next week.

Real Madrid themselves are apparently the club most keen to test Spurs’ resolve with regards to Bale, but former Tottenham player Glenn Hoddle has advised the 23-year-old that if he does leave Spurs, he should stay in England, although Hoddle himself would prefer to see him remain at White Hart Lane.

SSN reported that Man United will make an offer Bale if they can't get Ronaldo.

edit: ah, it's mentioned in the article above. :p
