I love Evra, but I wouldn't be against him being sent to Monaco/PSG and a 15mil or so transfer for Baines.

I would however like to see Buttner/Fabio come on a lot, though. I hope Fabio can do a Rafael.

It was stated by a few during the original transfer that Fabio was the better player. I know Fabio hardly got a chance behind Evra, and I didn't hear great things coming out of QPR last season (although I didn't see him playing myself that often), but I just cant see him progressing to the quality required unfortunately.

Buttner is a reasonable understudy for another season - I just hope he gets a good run of games in the cups / and "easier" league games to see if he can really push on in his 2nd year.

I remember when that was first breaking yonks ago & I thought it wouldn't happen :o:(
Hopefully some decent bids come in before the deadline and the administrators can find a solution :)

Cheers, I'm hopeful that we'll get a few decent bids in - provided they've got some money and are less mad than Romanov I'll consider it progress. Although the 15 point deduction means it'll be a huge struggle not to drop down a league whatever happens.

It depends what you mean by more valuable - great player though Van Persie is I've got my suspicions that Rooney is more marketable in England. If it were purely a consideration of playing ability and form i.e. performance related pay in a pure sense then you'd pay Van Persie more. If you're including commercial value as well as potentially intangibles like effect on team morale etc then it's much less clear cut.

What commercial value is Rooney exactly. Haven't seen him on anything for ages. RVP is the new face for the BT Commercials.

In 2010 his commercial vaule dropped to around £25m according to the interweb. A third off from the previous season due to his cheating on his wife and being in the papers for the wrong reasons. I doubt its increased too much since.

You are still thinking of Rooney in the past, when in fact he is past it. I would be surprised if he gets 15 goals next year. A player of his potential should be getting that as a minimum. He should be hitting his peak.

Look like Spurs may get Villa by end of next week. Apparently in talks.

Madrid look desperate to get Bale as they offer half their team in a part exchange deal.

I'm not fussed now.. Just want it done and dusted sooner so we have time to re-shape rather than leaving it to a "dramatic sky deadline day breaking news" story its may become. Deadlines day should in force after the season kicks off.. not a month later.

Its a gamble for both but I think Bale will stay (jinx jinx jinx :D) and if they add the players they are saying then they should be in good shape.

Be interesting to see his price next summer because he is going to get a lot of attention next season.

Arsene Wenger has been strongly linked with interest in young Toulouse FC right back Serge Aurier, who chose to post an image of himself wearing an Arsenal shirt whilst on his summer holidays on his Twitter page, which can be accessed as @Serge_Aurier.

This has been reported in a few places.

French giants Marseille are on the verge of signing Arsenal forward Gervinho on a season-long loan deal, according to reports in France.

Could be icing on the cake if he goes too lol

We just need the replacements in now. Normally we get rid of our best players and then get in some unknowns as potential future replacements.

This year we have got rid of quite a bit of either deadwood or just players that dont meet Wengers standards of style.

Bendtner is still stalling over who he goes to, apparently has 5 clubs and agreed terms, just needs to pick a team. I wish him the best as I always liked him but its not worked for him in England.

I know it's not a position that is needed, but I would still like to see that happen. He looks like he has incredible potential, so it would be nice to see if that flourishes.

Well with him and Jenkinson there I think we have a nice little competition which is needed.

Aopparently he can play anywhere at the back too which is helpful. Wenger will have him playing on the wing by the end of the season lol

Hmm if he goes, does that mean we will sign another player ASWELL as Higuain? Adds a little legitimacy to the Rooney rumours... although I don't think Rooney would want to go to Arsenal and we cant afford him surely?

The Times are reporting that Arsenal are keeping an eye on Reina's situation. Supposedly they made an enquiry previously and were told that Reina's off to Barca.

We can afford him but at the price rumoured then I would say spend it else where.

If we get Higuain then I will be very happy. We would then have, Giroud, Walcott, Pol and the young french guy as potential strikers. More than enough.

The french guy has scored a goal in each of the u20's games he has played so far. He has had injury issues (like every player we go for lol) but he has some potential to be Wengers latest Gem.

I honestly believe he could play anywhere along the back, though would be suited at FB and the wing - He does really look very, very promising though! That transfer excites me more than any others I've read about.

I said we're not striving to be another ManU. By this I mean we have a different approach at Arsenal, so what might work at OT (ego's and celebrity), does not work at Emirates. It is very naive of you to assume that we want the the OT rejects like Rooney, or that we somehow need them to stand a chance of being having ManU-like success; this is another example of the ManU ego where every other club is expected to worship 'the club' and follow their model for success, rather than doing their own thing, including some making mistakes along the way.

ManU may need our cast-offs but we don't need yours (dolphinhead aside) ;)
Odd seeing Man Utd players criticised for "ego" and "celebrity". No one actively chases celebrity at Man Utd and given the "ego's" it's amazing we've never had a split dressing room...
