Hi guys I'm planning on buying an EVGA GTX 780 ACX superclocked to enhance my gaming experience.

My current CPU is the i3 2120 3.3GHz processor which I am very satisfied with, so I don't really want to upgrade this to an i5 3570k.

Will my i3 2120 bottleneck the GTX 780 and to what extent? I play games like DotA, and FPS games, so I guess CPU demanding games are not my priority.

Thanks

Most games will bottleneck a dual core with a 780, but at least you can have the highest settings in games, to what degreee the bottleneck will be is anyones guess.

For the price of a 780 you could pick up an i5 3570k and a 770, no?

The extent of the bottleneck would depend on exactly which game you're playing. For instance something like Battlefield 3 with 64 players will munch a fair amount of CPU power.

I doubt it tbh, its more a case of ultra settings, games like bf3 will not be much faster but you can have higher settings, strategy games and rpg's will probably be better, what is your reason for getting a 780? more fps ? higher settings ? and in what games are you not happy with the 560ti ?

Do you recommend I buy a 770 and 3570k instead of just the 780? Will this give me better performance overall?

I think it's best I wait to buy the 3570k and 780 together for maximum performance then. This way I will see the most performance increase?

I would have to second the i5 and a 770 too that would be my route.
