I can't make my mind up - choice of 3

Sorry I probably should have been more specific the 150bhp version of the 1.9, the alternators are renowed for going as are the dual mass flywheels, I know the dmf's are a problem on a lot of stuff but they seem particually bad one this engine, my father has a saab with it in, he has a friend with an Alfa 159 and I know someone with an Astra they have all had dmf's and alternators fail, also the saab and the 159 have had to have glow plugs replaced, this is just what i've seen of this engine and would personally make me avoid it.

the glowplugs are a service item, like spark plugs

Multitronic CVT = NO,NO,NO,NO

£2-3k rebuilds every 30-60k sound good to you?

Dam my 120k Audi A4 Multitronic is due is 5th/3rd box then.

Oh wait its still on its first.

Give it oil services every so often and don't drive it like a hooligan and its a excellent box.

Well you either have a post 2006ish car or your a very, very lucky man, I know one that's about to have its third rebuild in the near future and have seem so many others do exactly the same. Absolutely nothing to do with how its driven, absolute time bomb of a box

55 plate. I'll wait for it to go off.

Fair enough, if you get a random thump from the box one day then trust me, get rid of it

In all fairness to you, I have heard about the problems and so on so don't take it in a bad way. It is a excellent box when it isn't blown up.

And we are looking to get rid anyway lol
