I'm looking to buy one or the other but I'm undecided on what to get. I remember playing the original M&B and really enjoying it and it looks to have more depth than Chivalry, however I'm not too sure if that really is the case?

Are they as comparable as I'm imagining?

They are very different games. Warband has single player campaign along with plenty of mods to go with it which can be extremely fun too, whereas Chivalry is entirely multiplayer. Chivalry is a very fun game if you are looking for a medieval setting, gory, deathmatch style multiplayer.

Combat in Warband is quite different and far less forgiving than Chivalry.

They're like apples and oranges.

I regularly load up and play warband but rarely do I play chivalry, but when I do its fun...just a different style of fun.

I enjoy "siege" mode in warband and chivalry does not have this, but I enjoy the team objective mode.

I play them seperately, I never ask myself which I'm going to play they're very contrasting games.

Mount & Blade is a modified RTS game with RPG elements, and Chivalry is a first person multiplayer hack and slash. About as comparable as Command & Conquer and Call of Duty. :p

M & B is much, much better though.

Chivalry is great fun. I've put plenty of hours into it, TDM/Objective modes are very fun and there's nothing quite like having a lengthy duel with someone and landing a blow that removes their head completely.

Warband is a must have, in preparation for m&b2. Tone those skills

Yes! I totally agree with you there. Warband was my first Steam game and I've accumulated well over 150 hours on it within a few months time. The campaign is decent, game play is unique and multiplayer can also be great fun.

I've been wondering the same op chivalry or warband.
Must buy one before the sale ends...
Warband seems to be winning the war for me so far though

Chivalry is amazingly fun and i've dumped many hours into it - though it's not without its problems that have been around for over half a year.
There is the very occasional swing animation sync issue which results in being 'hit' before a weapon is even close to physically hitting you, in a game where it takes 1-3 hits to die it easily induces keyboard-flipping (for me anyway) though you will only care about this if you like to play competitively.

Still incredibly fun though, reducing someones head by mace to many tiny fragments with a rewarding wet splat sound is unbelievably satisfying :D
