Hi, quick question here regarding my next case. In my build plan for my next pc I'm currently thinking about running the 540 air. I'm wondering if any of you can tell me if it improves performance enough to warrant the price increase over the other 3 options in the title thread? If not, which of the other 3 would be best for the spec below?

I realise there isn't a huge amount of benchmarks or anything regarding the 540, so I'm just after guestimates, essentially. I'm quite worried the 540 won't be out before the end of August, as I need the build by September.

Bear in mind, I'm going to be overclocking my 4670k to 4.5-4.8Ghz, and my 7950 quite a bit too, so air cooling is going to be important. I'd also like to know if these would all fit an H100 or if I would have to drop that to something else?

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost Edition 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card **NEW REVISION** £239.99
1 x Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM with FREE Grid 2 PC Game £179.99
1 x Asus Z87-PLUS Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £143.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case - Black £116.99
1 x Samsung 128GB SSD 840 PRO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7PD128BW) £115.99
1 x XFX Pro Series 650W XXX Edition Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £74.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan GOLD 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLYD38G2133HC11ADC01) £71.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler *Manufacturer Refurbished Unit - 90 Day Warranty £39.95
1 x OcUK 20x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £11.99
Total : £1,009.96 (includes shipping : £11.75).

Thanks in advance!

Depends what you're after really. IMHO the 540 is one of the most exciting cases in ages, and I will be getting one as soon as some more reviews are out. It has lots of features for the price, and plenty of space for radiators if you ever go down the watercooling route. I would expect it to be the coolest running of the three.

BitFenix Ghost will probably be quieter than the 540 (depending on which fans you use). It also looks like a good option, although sometimes silent cases run a little hotter due to the sound dampening material inside. That LED on the bottom is quite cool as well :)

NZXT H2 is an older case, but still has some nice features. Again it ma have slightly higher temps because of silencing material. One thing to note is the USB 3 cables that come out the back, taking up, two of your motherboard's external USB ports.

On a side note, Haswell CPUs are reported to run very hot compared to SB and IB, meaning that to get any serious clocks you need to go full WC.

Basically, I would go for the 540 if space and budget allows. At the end of the day though it is your personal preference that must make the decision.

P.S. Personally I would get gold Vengeance Pro ram if you can find an 8gb kit (Overclockers don't seem to have one ) because IMO they look better.

I think I'm definitely going to be getting the 540, this is just in case it A) doesn't get released before the end of August or B) a similar performance air case can be had for much cheaper.

The ones I linked seemed to be the best bet but perhaps not.

I too am a massive fan of the 540 and think its very exciting. I do have a few issues with it though the lack of 3.5" options is really poor, the holes in the bottom of the case are awful and the vent in the side for the PSU is a bit ugly.

Everything else is spot on and i love the idea of being able to seperate the two sets of components.
