WDTV Live - no IP address

Got one of these from Amazon yesterday but despite faffing around for ages it refuses to get a connection over Ethernet (over wifi is fine).

I'm using powerline adapter's to a gigabit switch and then a BT home hub 3 - my Apple TV 2 is fine using the same connection. Removing the switch makes no difference.

Have started RMA but they aren't collecting until Monday so open to suggestions in the meantime?

Have seen the units are prone to overheating but I'm not putting it in the fridge to test that suggestion.

Test with a cable direct to router, test same cable with another device

n111ck, I have the WD TV Live Hub (the one with the 1TB H/D) and the exact same setup as yourself. I honestly didn't have a problem, the WD connected first time without a hitch. Well actually the 'only' problem I had was self inflicted! On my first attempt at setting it up I had plugged the powerline adaptor into an extension socket that had power surge protection built in. Once I tried it directly into wall socket, it ran perfectly.

Thanks all - turned out to be the powerline not having the same password / name as the others - still don't understand why the apple tv still worked but all ok now.
