Which GTX 770?

Hi all,

I'm trying to decide which GTX 770 I want to get..

I am torn to the MSI http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-202-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1750

Purely for the colours, since my build is red/black. Is this a good card? I would pretty much leave it stock, maybe a little bit of an OC.

Any others that stand out? Is MSI good? Are their components good? etc?

Also, is my PSU enough?

I'm running i5-3570k @ 4.2ghz, stock volts. 1 SSD, 1 HDD, h100i. I have a XFX 550W Core Edition

550W is tight. personally I would not run that card on less than 700W however I could be way off.

"Measured power consumption
1.System in IDLE = 119 W
2.System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 308 W
3.Difference (GPU load) = 189 W
4.Add average IDLE wattage ~10 W
5.Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 199 Watts

The system wattage is measured at the wall socket side and there are other variables like PSU power efficiency. So this is a calculated value."

I bought that exact graphics card that you've listed, MSI are good, the card is good, and that card looked beautiful and feels solid, my system is also red and black... I decided to go for a 780 instead just because... if you like the style go for it. What sort of games etc are you playing...

Not sure on psu as i am/was using a 750 watt. Just for info on the box my gtx 780 it says it requires 600watts.

You're way off :P 550w is plenty for a 770 with 3570k. I'd even be happy running it on a high quality 400w.

MSI card with Twin Frozr IV (like the card you linked) is probably the best choice if you want cool&quiet. Here's an image someone just made based on Techpowerup GTX 760 tests: http://i.imgur.com/0FYuRlb.png

Before Twin Frozr IV, Asus DC2 coolers were probably the best for noise/cooling so that's also a good choice.

I bought this card last week, Very sexy, and strong performer, The fan's even on 100% is soo quiet and stays very cool, I rarely see my Card hit over 50c.

Another thing to note "- 1x 8-Pin & 1x 6-Pin PCI-E Connectors required"

Mine uses 2x 8pin PCI-E connectors, so just to make note of that.

Na he will be fine!

I run an i5 at 4.4GHZ, 16gb ram, 4 hard drives, and an overclocked GTX 480 on a 620w and never had a problem and a GTX 480 is one of the most power hungry single GPU cards there is.

700w would probably be enough for 2x GTX 770's in SLI!

Just noticed the GTX 770 Inno3D cards are in stock (The only card currently with the Titan style coolers) EVGA will be offering the same thing but it will be a few weeks until we see stock in the UK, no idea on pricing yet.

I wanted the Gigabyte GTX 770 Windforce but it’s too big for my case.

This fits the bill along with the EVGA 10.5" cards. Price seems high for a perceived budget brand and I wondered if this would be the same quality as other reference cards?

Inno3d isn't really a budget brand. a lot of their cards are some of the most expensive around such as the ichill and watercooled ones. They're just not that popular, definitely nothing worse about their 770 with titan cooler vs evgas card.

Sounds like they cater for the specialist. Great move for them to offer the stock cooler. Thanks for your help :)

my ACX is running at just under 1300 on boost at stock voltage and FYI im running a 520w PSU thats 7 years old, (though it is a Corsair HX) and its pushing the 770gtx and my 3570k @4.4 no problems at all.

I'm sure it will work on a 550W PSU, but for how long.......If it's possible I'd look to have some power in reserve so your PSU is not close/ on it's limit especialy if your going to OC.

The last time I ran a graphics card that close to the power limit the PSU went pop....

Its not close to the limit though is it. I bet it dosnt pull 400 from that.

I'd get gigabyte for 3 reasons

- UK based RMA 2-3 days to sort out
- 3 year warranty
- Best cooling solution

MSi's two 100mm fans or EVGA two 92mm fans will be quieter than Gigabytes three 92mm fan cooler, and the diff in temps between all three cards under load is tiny, if the many reviews are to be believed.
