Current basket, I would prefer not to spend much over £1000 as that was my initial budget, however, things have just started adding more and more costs! The one thing I see to save money on is the Dominator RAM as I know it is completely unnecessary, but it is just too sexy.

Help me save some money please!

Thanks!

Are you looking to go SLI in the future?

If not, you can save £30 on the motherboard and another £25-£30 on the PSU..

As as mentioned above a cheaper GPU cooler would help no end..

Are you open to changing the case? Maybe a 300R? I would change the ram as you suggested..

You may have to drop down the GPU ladder..

Good spec idle. Maybe the windowed 300R would suit the OP better..

:)

Cheers. The option is there, if he does`nt mind spending an extra fiver. But I was just trying to give him a decent system as near to £1000 as possible. Trouble is, the 770 is taking up over a third of his budget, so makes it difficult to balance everything else without compromising the build. As you suggested earlier, it might be a good idea to aim a little lower in terms of the Gpu. Something like this "B" grade card.

I'd personally find cheaper RAM (imo the Corsair you have selected is quite expensive) and maybe a cheaper case. I personally have the Corsair 300R which I am very happy with but a case can make all the difference to how happy you are with a build, at least for me anyways :)

You could always drop the cooler if you are not planning on overclocking and get a cheaper air cooler to save a few pounds. You may be able to save money by getting a 650W PSU rather than a 750W. A 650W should be fine for a single GPU setup with overclocking but if you plan to SLI later then a 750W would be best to keep.

Thanks for all the replies guys, to answer a few questions. In the future I don't know if I will go SLI or not, I was thinking I could buy a 7950 now and another at Christmas? I am just wary that the AMD 8*** series will be out by Xmas and I want to buy the most up to date parts I can.

I have never heard of Patriot memory before has anyone had some experience with them? I will look at other RAM specifically the Vengeance Pro so far.

Finally, the Phantom 410 is really the case I want, however if the 530 comes out by the time I order (6 days) than I will look into getting that!

I would love to get that MSI 770 however I am trying to stick to a black/blue/white kind of colour scheme as far as possible so a red GPU might just ruin that!

Thanks for all your posts so far. Right now I am having the most trouble deciding on GPU!

As I see it I have these options:

1x 7970
or
1x GTX 770
or
1x GTX 680
or
2x 7950
or
2x GTX 670
or
2x GTX 760

Bear in mind that the 2x cards I would be buying one now and then one at XMAS, I am very aware however that AMDs 8*** series will be coming out by then and I don't want to waste my money on outdated tech.

Any thoughts?

This really depends on what you're doing with the rig.. Is it for ultimate gaming, getting every Frame you can, or just to game at a comfortable FPS on ultra settings?

Dpeends on the screen res too, 1080p or above.. 3 screens or just 1?

They make the Intel Masters RAM too.. It's good memory :)

Fair enough, you just have to up the budget to include it, or sacrifice performance in one area...

It would. :)

Like i say it depends on what you want from your rig..

If you want a casula gaming rig which will blast through a lot of games at high/ultra settings (1080p) i'd go with one single power house card. either the 770 or the 7970..

Doomedspeed you have been more than helpful! As have you all, basically I run 2 screens all the time at 1920x1080, I would love to be able to upgrade my monitors at some point in the future to a higher res (when my bank balance has recovered from this particular escapade!). I really am not going for the 'ultimate gaming rig' I am looking to get like you said over 60 FPS on all but the most demanding games at ultra settings. Games like Farcry 3, BF3/4 etc. I wouldn't be looking for 60+ on Crysis 3 at the moment though.

The 3 free game bundle with the AMD 79** series is making me question 7970 over 770. Should I just ignore the free games and go for the better card for the money - which I assume is the GTX 770?

Thanks again!
