I have a small problem, I currently have a horrible technicolour modem/router, which periodically disconnects itself from the internet is constantly overheating. The wireless on the modem is awful too.

I need a new one and so I wanted some suggestions as to what would be good to get. I haven't done a lot of reading up on modems, routers, access points etc. and so I thought I'd ask you guys.

I recently bought a wireless router, an Asus RT-AC66U Dual-band Gigabit Router to increase wireless rage and signal strength. This has worked well and it is an excellent router. The problem is, it is a router and not a modem, so doesn't accept an ADSL cable. I need to use the problematic technicolor router to connect to the internet, which leaves me with the problem of disconnecting constantly.

What do you guys suggest I do, sell them both and get something like the Asus DSL-N55U modem/router, or just get a different modem? Or perhaps do something else...

Again, I haven't done a great deal of research on these things, so forgive me if I appear a little misinformed.

Thanks a lot for any help you may be able to provide!

You really should have bought an Asus DSL-N55U, comes with a modem built in..

Yeah, it was silly of me. I really only wanted an access point for the wireless users in my house, but realised soon after that I should've gotten one with a modem built in... Doh!

Thanks for the suggestions...
