Planning my first water cooled rig and been reading up on loops and looking at as many build logs as I can, but would like some advice/pointers on my own...

Loop will have...

CPU
Vram
NB
SB
GPU x 1 (to start with)

I've got...

1 x NeXXos ST30 (Top of case due to space available)
1 x XSPC RS240
1 x HWLabs SR-1 360

Couldnt fit more or larger in even if I wanted too... This adequate or over kill?

Due to the amount of blocks in the loop I was planning on running two pumps, which will mean they wont need to be running flatout and will also give me redundancy if needed?

So hows my planning so far, good or bad?

What is the system spec?

cooling the NB and SB is typically a waste, It'll just dump heat into your loop, unless you're doing it for looks...

I don't know about AMD but Intel combined one of these into the CPU years ago, MB blocks today are for the PCH (chipset) and VRM (power bits).

PCH blocks don't really do that much apart from look good hence why the normal heatsinks are passive, its usually an (if everything else has a block then why not?) situation

VRM blocks on the other hand are useful, reducing VRM temps which aids overclocks and even dropping CPU temps.

Just wondering about this (not that it'll make any real difference) but I believe VRAM is usually "Video RAM" and would be found on a graphics card. So I'm wondering if you meant VRAM or if you meant RAM or VRMs?

I'll assume by NB & SB you just mean 'chipset' or 'motherboard'. Which gives about 4 components. So ideally you'd want 5 x 120mm worth of radiator space. So using the 360 and a 240mm should be fine. If you can fit the additional 240mm in too, then that should just make things better.

Its been a while since I built a system, so if my terminology is wrong I apologize! :o

I'll be using relatively old hardware, due to the fact it my first go at this... if it all goes wrong then its not so much of a loss in terms of parts and cost!

System Spec...

EVGA 'Black Pearl' 680i
Intel Quad Q6600
GTX 470 iChill Black Series
4GB DDR2 PC2-8500 1066MHz OCZ SLi

The main reason for all the blocks is due to the mobo which comes with them as standard...

Appreciate the replies and advice so far!

If I've measured correctly then I should be able to get the extra 240mm rad in the bottom with the 360mm so will do just that, Thanks for the advice!
