I think one of those was because we couldn't get a visa / he hadn't played enough international matches/claimed enough caps and "exceptional talent" claim didn't hold up
 
Probably common knowledge for you who have access to SSN but as I've only just got in they're reporting Rooney will meet with Moyes on Wednesday to discuss his future; SSN are spinning it that it's more to clarify his role in the side rather than to express a desire to leave (at this stage). They also say we've told Arsenal he's not for sale.

Latest on Thiago according to twitter is that there were some reservations by us to put a similar clause in his contract to that he had at Barca; basically so he can leave at such and such a price if he doesn't play x amount of games/minutes/minutes in games (whatever it is), we've now apparently agreed to that. Sounds like BS to me because I didn't think players had buyout clauses over here?
 
You can agree to whatever you like in a personal contract. We just don't have to have a buyout clause like they do in Spain as a standard.
 
I can't imagine why we wouldn't do that, as long as it excludes injuries (surely..) and the release fee is reasonable then it seems a reasonable clause

I thought you can put them in but I would assume that you can put whatever terms you like into a contract. If that is true then I would worry about his desire to come over here. If we are telling him we don't want to guarantee him a certain amount of football, why would he leave Barca where he is in the same position. We should just accept it and sign the bugger. I don't care about the rest of the window if we get him. There are no significant weaknesses in the team bar CM.

I think all players bought (or borrowed) from Barca should have a buy out clause, to guarantee the selling club can get some decent Wonga for their man before he buggers back off to his one true sodding love:p
 
Well our first signing has been announced..Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre comes to Le Arsenal on a free.

SSN just breaking the news now, was getting excited that it might have been Higuain but i am disappoint :(

We'll agree to a buy out clause but we won't agree to 'x' amount of minutes minimum in a contract. Funnily enough it was rumoured for a long time that Veron had this in his contract at United.

Yep seems like it is, typical Wenger signing ie young and full of potential or so they say. Didnt cost us a penny in transfer fees and dont think he will be on high wages but i did hear its a long term contract he will be on.

Still im hoping in the next few weeks we tie up the Higuain deal and bag Cesar...those are the 2 signings im looking forward to and im hoping Wenger/Arsenal get these deals done quickly.
 
Some of the mid to lower table teams seem to be really willing to splash the cash in this window.. Fantasy football is going to be tough this year!
