There are non ref GTX 780s that are faster than a stock Titan.

a £550 card faster than a £800+ card? Really?

if this is the case I feel you'll be right wirh AMD trying to BS there way into the market.

They should really go for the "yes, it will be slower than the 780 (still faster than the 770) but its half the price..." Thays how you earn respect AMD.

While it is cheaper than the GTX780, it still a bit much for a single GPU card.

£420-£460 would be about right.

If it beats 780 performance and judging by 780 sales I can see AMD setting it at £500 as it will sell very well for them.

GTX 780 are constantly selling out, NVIDIA can't make them fast enough, so though I see your point graphics pricing are increasing, many are willing to pay the premiums.

Right now AMD are not in a position where they can make low margins, they need all the profit they can make and if the new card beats 780, then they can price match NVIDIA and take sales from them.

Except that 7970 was higher in price than the 680, which then sharply fell in price and became much lower than the 680. Now if the 9970 was to came out faster than the 780, I don't see Nvidia is going to slash price to lower than AMD.

2 years after the launch of 7970, if the 9970 is still like 780 level performance being only 25-40% faster on average (meaning a pitiful 12-20% increase per year), plus a higher price to run salt on wounds, it's no wonder people are starting to considering giving up on PC gaming and just got PS4 and be done with it.

I assume they will release a 7950 equivalent card, ie a new card to rival the 770, is that likely to be a month or so after their new top of the range card?

2nd tier is plenty for 1080p.

it be faster than a 780 and with a better price set (Bundle) and driver to match.
with Bf4 as a selling argument anything else wont make sense.
its likely to be an awesome card to frame on the wall after its service.

I hope the reference cards wont be as loud as the reference HD79xx series. I prefer blower style gpu cooling solutions because it works with my case's airflow design (Silverstone TJ08-E). In fact I sold my HD 7970 because the noise was driving me crazy and bought a GTX 780.

Having said that there were some leaked images of an AMD reference card that had axial fans.

Also I hope bf4 needs more grunt than bf3

It's really a shame that Akasa didn't release a updated Vortexx NEO graphic cooler for the modern cards. It's probably one of the best (if not the only) 3rd party blower cooler there is in terms of noise level and cooling performance.

The prices are artificially inflated, there's no actual reason why it'd have to be quite expensive.

People tend to forget that the Titan has similar production costs to the GTX580 despite the huge gap in release prices.

From my perspective as long as it allows me to play R:TW2 and BF4 at 1440p with decent settings i will jump onboard. No way would nvidia get my money for the 7800 ripoff price, unless AMD smell easy money and jack there price up.

If that is true then it looks like a no brainier. Nvidia really have to start thinking about their pricing strategy which is dire tbh.

Good to have choices in both power and pricing IMO.

I had that on my HD 4870

To be honest nvidia's reference solution is good enough for me... its a a league ahead of the reference solution AMD offers. If they (AMD) could design a good blower solution I would be a very happy bunny.

Yea...it dropped the load temp for around 20C on my 9800GTX+ comparing to the reference cooler.
