I'm looking to get a new PSU for my HTPC since i've upgrade all the components and i'm experiencing some whining and noises from the PSU. The PSU i have at the moment also doesn't have a 2x4 pin ATX connector for the CPU, only a 1x4 pin, so that could potentially be causing a problem.

anyway, since i've upgraded everything else i thought I'd do the PSU as well.

Looking for a 500w ish PSU, must be as quiet as possible really and not too expensive. It's a fairly low usage machine, no gaming at all, very low CPU loads really. components listed below:

• AMD A8-5600K Black Edition 3.60GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor (integrated graphics)
• Gigabyte F2A85XM-D3H AMD A85X Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 micro ATX Motherboard
• GeIL EVO Leggera 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-14900C10 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (GEL38GB1866C10DC)
• Antec Fusion HTPC Case
• Asus Xonar DS 7.1 sound card
• Samsung 64GB SSD 830 Desktop Series SATA 6Gb/s
• LG GGW-H20L Blu-ray and DVD writer
• Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD
• 500Gb SATA HD Samsung

my current PSU is 430w, but it is causing me problems so wasn't sure if i should get a slightly bigger one to be on the safe side or not. maybe it's just problematic because of the lack of a proper 2x4 pin CPU connection, and only using a 1x 4 pin

ok thanks guys for the advice. I'll take a look at those models suggested

I've just ordered a £2 adpater cable which converts a 4 pin ATX AND a 4 pin molex into an 8 pin ATX 12V connector, so will give that a try in case it clears up the issue. if it is related to the CPU ATX connection hopefully that will do the trick. if not, will get a new PSU anyway
