Chance to nab a car I've always wanted for very little money but insurance is killing off my dreams

Thinking of getting it and just sticking it in storage until I'm able to afford it though, declaring it off the road is all I would need to do right?

Is it a UK supra or a JDM one? UK Supra insurance is very, very reasonable, whereas imports are no-gos for me too

And what sort of quotes are you getting?

3.5-6.5k

99% sure it's UK

For a grand it has to be an NA auto right, and a rotten shed at that?

NA auto, but by no means a shed, it's untouched never had a mod on it and has been owned since new by one guy very clean and runs fine (103k on the clock)

i hate the "customer service" part of insurance companies. im picking up my new car on friday so called up admiral and got Mohamed went through all the car details, got to the color told him it was grey "that's my favorite color of car too." hurry up and take my money so i can go i thought. then he starts asking about my day and the weather.

well, good luck to you, for a grand and if its in decent nick like you say then aye, theres no reason to have it off the road till you get a better deal.

Surely you can get classic cover on that? Cost me £180 on my twinturbo 300zx. The novelty wears off this kind of car pretty quick after you've put up with their insatiable appetite for high octane for a while though.

Its an E39 M5. :)

I can't afford to service it though. :(

Ergo I can't afford an E39 M5. ;)

I would advise against laying it up for a long period of time, it won't do the car any good and at the very least will require some amount of recommissioning.

What a lovely guy you are, Mohamed, working a slave wage job in a hell hole call centre job, tries to improve his english by chatting to you while his computer loads, and you slate him for it. Well done big man.

Drive something tedious and get more no claims first. :p

I want an E30 325i (or similar) but there is no way in hell I could ever afford the insurance on that kind of car yet.

As it happens I am going to look at (and possibly buy) a 1.2 Polo 3 cyl tomorrow, which will be my car for building up the no claims bonus. :)

I think someone should be in bed then :p
