I got a letter in the post from Sky saying I owe them £5.08 for broadband. This confused me as I do have Sky TV but have never had Sky broadband. Then I see at the bottom that Sky have bought O2 broadband and home phone.

I called them and they said it was for the last period after I cancelled in 2010.

I can't remember the date I cancelled or when the service ended so I can't say if I should owe them or not.

What will happen if I don't pay? I'm pretty annoyed about this and contemplating complaining to Sky.

But I can't be sure I really owe it. It was 3 years ago. why have they suddenly taken an interest after all this time?

Why does the time frame matter? And why does it matter that they are chasing it now? It's only 5 quid.. Pay up before it gets out of hand :)

You'll probably spend more than a fiver on the phone to Sky trying to sort it out.

This, last time I had tried sorting something out, it cost over £40 in phone calls and they still refused to accept they were wrong.

Do sky have a free phone number yet? Or a saynoto0845 thing.

Stupid and annoying, but as its such a small amount I would probably pay it, unless I could find a free phone number, then I would phone up and try comaplining and threatening to leave unless they waived it.

Usually i'm stubborn as hell when it comes to paying up anything i don't think i should but in this case even i would pay, it'll cost you in phone calls and large amounts of time to sort it with the potential for it to get sent to debt collectors and mount up.

TL;DR: Just pay it..

Time and money wasted to possibly save yourself from paying £5. I'd just pay it.

I'm feeling particularly awkward at the moment. :)

Also I give Sky enough money and O2 should have taken the payment at the time.

I'd argue it until my dying breath! :D

I can't stand it when people just pay it out of laziness! If I got a bill from any provider from that long ago I'd use the saynoto0870 (there are a few freephone numbers on there for Sky) and argue the point!

The amount isn't the issue, it's the principal! If they can't be ***** to bill you in a reasonable amount of time then **** them! (had a bad day at work, can you tell?? :p)

I don't have the time to bother when its only five quid we're talking about :p

If OP has the time, sure give them a call - but I really couldn't be arsed myself :p

This was my thinking.

Was thinking about moving my broadband to them in November when my BT contract ends, they can forget it if they charge me this now lol.

If I was sure I didn't owe it, would I hell 'just pay it'.

Ignore it and ignore any tame debt collection letters. They will soon give up. They are hardly going to go to court for a CCJ for £5.
