I hate insurance companies :(

Jesus wept, so he doesn't like making idle chit chat with random people where's the problem with that?
I take it if you're stood at traffic lights waiting for them to change then you strike up a conversation with anyone else waiting?

If by conversation you mean obscene gestures, all the time!

Ok m8! What ever you say big man!

In fairness mate, I just want to get things over and done with on the phone to insurance companies.

I don't think I'm more important.

I'm not rude to them.

I just want to know how much I'm going to have to shell out this year.

Insurance companies have been pretty good to me in regards to my claims etc in the past so can't say a bad word.

I'm highly interested in how on Earth you get quoted 20k on insurance, even if you were 17 on a provisional and were buying a McLaren it probably wouldn't be that high.

That's what I thought but apparently you are wrong, as was I lol.

It won't be UK spec.

UK specs start at 5K for even crappy ones.

NA auto for sure.

For 1K it wil be complete shed.

LOL @ 6.5K quote

You must be 10 or something or live in iraq or both.

Don't buy one OP, you will crash and burn like I did.

x2

x2, I only saw the pictures for the second one :p It's not a shed at all but thanks

For 1k i would buy one instant.
ONE OWNER !!! Thats a car seller for me :D

Think I'll do this as it's been suggested, I don't want it to just sit and rot without using it and as said in here I could put the money toward something else.

Cheers guys ;)

As for the people saying 17 year old provisional for insurance. At 17, as a provisional driver I could insure a 2004 1.6ltr Honda Civic 3Dr with an Exhaust and Suspension modification for £1.5k, now 18, full license I get quotes from the same company for £8.5k, even quotes on the 107 im now driving are £3.8k in my own name. So I 'take the bus' to work and drive on weekends and my girlfriends mum drives it during the week. £750.

Its cheap as chips as a learner on anything under 125Bhp, because you cant go out by yourself experienced and drive. You can only go out with a qualified driver with 3 years experience.

Who's more dangerous?
- A 17 Boy with his mum sat next to him judging his every move.
or
- A 17 Boy with his car packed with mates trying to show off his driving 'skills'

Exactly, so when people are trying to quote a worst case scenario, they shouldnt say a provisional driver!

I got quoted 7.5k for a twin turbo 3000gt. its not too bad cos i'd have 3 times as much power as a clio and that cost 3k so you get 3x the power, but not for 3x the price.

For 1k I'd buy it and use it maybe over summer and sell it on. I was insured on my jdm supra twin turbo at 21 for about 1400 so keep shopping around

Unfortunately I work in car insurance and see how expensive it can be for younger drivers. All I can say is shop around and don't be afraid to move companie if you are changing car mid term.insurance is a risk based industry and you don't get much for being loyal to any company.

If you aren't using it then just declare sorn and keep it off the road.

In fairness for 1K you could part it out to a degree.

Although being an Auto N/A you would have to get very involved to find parts that people want.

As usually TT auto boxes, manual boxes (5 & 6 speed) and the TT engine are quite sort after.

Have you got any pics of said vehicle?

I once did a quote for a 17 year old driving a MK2 MR2 (cant remember if it was N/A or turbo) and got quoted 60k!!! Was on a comparison site though. A few years later and here I am paying just under £800 with a fault claim for an N/A one. Funny how things turn out :p

1. 2.3K for a 2002 65HP Polo 1.2 on a provisional licence, up to 5K miles, recreational only with Dad as a named driver.

2. 2.2 - 2.6K on a full licence, up to 5K miles, recreational & commuting, Dad as a named driver. (price varies depending on area of employ)

3. 3.5K on a full licence, up to 5K miles, recreational only, Dad as a named driver and unemployed.

Hopefuly i'll go from number 1 on a 10 month accelerator policy (knocking about £200 - £300 off the price) to get my no claims bonus, then onto option 2 with my years no claims meaning the price will half.

Don't want to touch option 3. If i'm unemployed, how the hell would I afford it for one?

I'm 17, 18 in a couple of weeks.

Insurance companies are stupid....

2007 Clio 1.2 extreme £335pa

2010 civic Type R £325pa

To the point, I'd not waste £1k on a car that i would get bored of fairly quickly especially when you start to get into stuff that's faster.

Save your money for now

LOL obviously you haven't had the pleasure of interacting with Admiral's call centre that is outside the UK.

The most basic policy changes become an agonising experience, as the operatives I have spoken to appear to have absolutely no car based knowledge. I don't blame the OP for finding it frustrating when he is wasting money due to their incompetence.
