In February me and the fiancée spent two weeks in Thailand , this was our itinerary :
Uk to Bangkok
2 night stay at the Hotel Novotel Bangkok Ploenchit , it's a 4* with comfortable and modern rooms , cost about £40 per night, it's located just down from Siam square which is a modern shopping district , there's a few different malls here including the MBK centre , Siam Centre and the Siam Paragon, these are a couple of minutes away on the Skytrain and there is a station right outside the hotel.
MBK sells lots of copied gear and cheaper stuff, Siam centre is a bit more of your average mall and the Siam Paragon is full of designer outlets , the Paragon also has a cinema, many many restaurants and a really good aquarium in the basement and is worth a visit.
We also visited Dusit Zoo which is a cheap taxi ride away , nice zoo and very cheap entrance fee, after the zoo we got a Tuktuk to a pier on the river and then got a boat down to central pier, quite an experience and loads to see
Bangkok to Phuket
Flights were about £45 each with Bangkok airways
Stayed 3nights at the Nap , Patong beach , a really contempory and nice 4* hotel , we only paid £35 pn but were originally meant to stay in a sister hotel but it had been double booked and was full so we got a free upgrade. I think the Nap could be a lot more expensive though
Patong is nice enough around the beach area but does get busy , there's plenty of eateries on an evening and the prices are quite reasonable , a walk down Bangla road on an evening opens the eyes a bit haha
Phuket to phiphi
We got a ferry here for about £10 each, we stayed at PP Insula for 3 nights at about £30 pn , it is loacted next to the market area and the rooms are basic and tiny , its not the best accommodation but it has good aircon , a fridge and is clean
Phiphi is a stunning island IMO and worth a short stay , there's a very nice beach, diving trips, long tail boats for hire , the driver will take you around the surrounding island ,maya bay where the movie the beach was filmed and to some nice snorkelling lagoons
We found some cafe/restaurants to be quite cheap for decent food, nothing fancy but nice enough
Phiphi to koh samui
Cost another tenner each for the ferry to Krabi then a flight to Samui which was about £50 each
Stayed in a private villa at the Chaweng Bay View resort cost about £45pn
The villa itself was nice enough and clean , ours was right outside the pool which was handy , we more or less had the pool to ourselves for our stay
We didn't venture far through the day just relaxed by the pool , on an evening we wandered down tot the main strip where's there's tons of restaurants and bars, there's some really nice beach bars too.
Also went on a speedboat day trip,to the Ang Thong national park which is a must imo, a really fun day out
Samui to Bangkok
Again nearly fifty quid pp for a flight with Bangkok air
This was the last leg of our trip and coincided with valentines day so I booked us into the Tower Club at Lebua ,a stunning 5 star hotel which gained some fame from The Hangover 2 in the scenes where theyre on the rooftop restaurant
Cost about £140 pn
Theres 2 lots of rooms at lebua but the tower club rooms provide some extras such as the club lounge with complimentary buffet style food and drink throughout the day, this includes alcohol. I gotta say we really enjoyed this as the food was top notch with quality cold cut meats, breads , freshly made pastries , desserts , chocolates, cocktails ,etc
The room was also great , very modern and huge, with it being a club room it's also quite high up , ours was on the 56th floor and was quite something standing out on the balcony
And that was that, back to the uk
Hopefully some of that will help a little
