British Grand Prix 2013, Silverstone - Race 8/19

Drunkenmaster, while I see where you're coming from, I think that you have forgotten that the different construction of the tyres will mean that some suspension geometries will get a bigger advantage than others for this new tyre. It wont be a case of everyone getting better tyre wear by the same amount, there might be a very big difference between the improvements in tyre wear between each team

I was just about to post something similar.

He's completely ignoring the point that some cars (Lotus, Ferrari, FI) are so light on their tyres that they struggle for pace on a cold track.

If the Kevlar construction genuinely reduced tyre temps by 10°C then those teams will be at a disadvantage for pace, even if their tyres last longer.

The press release is rubbish. Teams have been swapping tyres round, running low pressures and using extreme camber for years, and the curbs have not changed. Pirelli have built tyres not fit for purpose and are desperately trying to cover their butts about it.

Indeed, the issue really is that Pirelli are deliberately creating tyres so close to the point of being unsafe that there is no tolerance, any minor influence which wasn't taken into account could be potentially deadly to a driver.

I really don't like how the solutions is to dumb F1 down further to suit the tyres rather than just building more reliable tyres, teams will have been using the same car settings for Silverstone as they have used for the past 10yrs or so.. at this rate Pirelli will be giving teams their car settings.

McLaren should just give up with the MP4-28 and use the MP4-27. It's not like they've gotten anything to lose now. The 2012 spec tyres should be a known quantity with the old chassis, just stick the new aero bits on and job's a good 'un.

That, or put the front suspension on upside down again :p

I expect they want to get the pullrod front suspension working, so no point going backwards.

Had a great weekend at Silverstone, Friday was a bit of a wash out but meh you tend to expect it then off course you get sunburnt the rest of the weekend. Great to see the Brit fans cheering when Seb dropped out, classy as always at Silverstone :D They also seemed to blame the puncture for Lewis on Seb going by the amount of obscene hand gestures he started to get after he took the lead....lol

Paint on the sidewalls blistering from the looks of it, however I'm not sure what that means in the grand scheme of things, we know they get hot already.

Sorry should have said - tyre FIA marked R (right) on the left side of the car (with team painted L on it).

Well shows the teams should listen.
If the teams don't want to follow guidelines, then teams, drivers, FIA, media can't blame the supplier when it goes wrong.
