I thought Walcott was on 90-95k? We may pay decent wages for average players but we don't pay good money for top players. Breaking the 100k barrier like this opens up a whole world of different players.
Coquelin looked ok when he played but I never thought he did enough to cement a spot in the side although when Ramsey gets a game you could argue that anyone should be able to. A top notch established DM is exactly what we need after securing a good striker.
Thing is the majority of players will be much worse if they only get 3-4 starts a year and 10 mins here and there. This is my problem, Ramsey has had runs in the team and doesn't improve, doesn't show anything and is frequently the weak link, particularly against top opposition. Coquelin, Vela and plenty of others get one start, then another start 4 months later, 2 10 min sub appearances somewhere in between and get judged on that.
Vela has absolutely proved himself in Spain now, 2 incredibly good seasons playing very exciting football. He was never poor, just never given an actual chance. If you're going to bring these players in give them a chance rather than this BS 10 mins then ignored. It would be less irritating and more just bad luck, if you give 5 players a chance and they are all brilliant then the 6th player might miss out on his chance, thats just the way it is. But when you persist in giving the likes of Diaby chance after chance after chance... and the guy next in the queue never gets a chance its just shockingly poor management.
That Eisfeld didn't get a single game was insane, he was better than several first team players in preseason let alone the backup and other youngsters, easily the most promising player we have and not a single sign of him in season, nuts. If they get 4-5 games which are 2-3 starts and two sub appearances, have a slight chance for some form, fine, if you can give them 15 appearances in a season with at least 5 starts, even better. Barca give their youngsters more of a chance than we do and thats with a MUCh stronger first team to rest players from.
We also get this thing with Wenger where, Bendtner and Vela put in a truly epic performance against Sheffield, then we didn't see Vela for ages... a player does great given a chance, he's still dropped. Then you get players with zero confidence and no idea how to get a chance under Wenger who either try too hard, or give up knowing they'll be ignored no matter how well they do.
