Azelle Rodney death: 'No justification' for police shooting

I disagree.

Two wrongs don't make a right, what does killing someone do? Put them in jail for their life, and I don't mean no silly prison a mass murderer should not loose all their rights but a few. They should be fed bread and butter with a drink of water for everyday for the rest of their life.

The UK is now rid of a career criminal and there are 3 less illegal fire arms on the streets. Where's the downside to this story?

Also none of my friends family or loved ones are criminals so I doubt any of us will be next. Thanks for your concern though.

But your friends or family or loved ones may potentially commit a crime or be linked with crime, so let's kill them all before they get a chance to. :)

it's another worrying sign of diminishing trust in the police
but, the guy who got shot was scum of the lowest variety

He was scum, I wouldn't argue otherwise.

The worrying thing is how the Police lied and covered up and unjustified shooting, the IPCC helped them, and now, 8 years later we discover that the shooting was wrong. No one will get in trouble, just like previous cases of Police abuse.

As I understand the law the police are NOT currently assigned as Judge, Jury and Executioner. This case proves exactly why the law exists, you can't go around killing people in cold blood just because you wear a uniform and then use the system to hide behind through a web of lies. You should be held accountable for your actions.

will be very annoyed if the officer is prosecuted, you go after an armed criminal you are bound to be on edge

This has uncomfortable similarities with the Jean Charles de Menezes case, at least Azelle Rodney was a criminal scumbag though. What hell was going on in the head of E7? It's just not acceptable to shoot people in cold blood like that. The police will go to the ends of the earth to persecute a homeowner who kills an intruder in self defence, but think they can get away with this - was E7 even arrested?

this

probably should be removed from firearms duties though

with thousands of calls every year there are unfortunately going to be some very rare incidents like this

will be very annoyed if the officer is prosecuted, you go after an armed criminal you are bound to be on edge

Then you are not fit to be an officer.

One should also admit this was the case and not lie and cover it up, whilst the people who are supposed to get to the truth and confirm your story also collaborate your lie for you. The issue isn't some scum lord gangster got shot, its the cover up and the accountability.

Be less short sighted.

Whether an officer is prosecuted or not should surely depend on the findings of an impartial investigation?

Simply being "on edge" is not really a viable excuse, IF some wrongdoing has been done.

Indeed.

Really the character of the individual is or little consequence, it's if the action was justified & if the police broke the law after is what matters.

Police being the law should be under the closest scrutiny to ensure no abuse of power occurs.
