John Carmack says NVidia drivers are 'consistently superior'

You were the one trying to post your opinion as facts.
I'm saying the game has issues, its a fact not an opinion, 157 issues as of the last count and drivers wont fix them.

http://mwomercs.com/forums/forum/157-known-issues/

Lmao, it's section 157 of the forum, that isn't the number of threads... also, if you notice, that section lists all of the known issues since open beta started, most of them have been patched out, there are maybe 10 that are current

No wonder you think that 98% of the polls on the forum are about bugs, you are only looking in the bugs section of the forum

OK 84 known issues and yes that's right im only looking at the bugs section because we are talking about issues.
And you said that you have been looking for AMD to sort the game running properly since it came out, so which of those bugs were down to AMD.

My point stands, that is a list of 84 known issues since September 2012, not all of them are current

As I've already said, the issue that affects the 7970m, which is not limited to mwo, is that usage drops sharply, as does fps, making the game unplayable, each new patch from amd will fix one game and break 3 others, meaning if I want to switch game I have to switch drivers, which in and of itself can turn in to an all night affair

Mwo is the main game I'd like to play on my laptop when I do game on it, and as of yet I've not found a single set that eliminates this problem entirely in mwo, it also means I need to keep every version of drivers I download and keep notes on which ones are for what game

The current latest mobility driver gives me a black screen (or black window if windowed) on all games

Yes that is correct, but which of those ones were down to AMD ?
If your talking about 7970m im not interested because i have replied to 7970m being a mess already.

AMD mobility drivers are an absolute joke, particularly it would seem on windows 8, where you frequently have to do a full system restore or even full reinstall of the OS to be able to install a different driver pack

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx

you are completely missing the point of my posting in the first place - I tried AMD a while back when they were "better value" only to have a huge host of problems and having to sell and re-buy NVidia... I've had to do the same again recently and will be doing the same with my laptop once I've decided what to get in it's place

that is my experience of AMD drivers, and that is the topic of the thread, I can totally accept that some people have problems with NVidia and face the same choice, or that some people are willing to put up with work arounds and fixes and things like driver sweeper to get AMD working for them

I do think that people posting up their direct experience is useful for others - if more people had done that before I bought my 7970m, I might not be in the situation I am now, unfortunately I only bothered asking on this forum and got the fluffy bunny brigade telling me AMD drivers were fine, it was only after getting my laptop and being a bit more specific in my searching did I discover that AMD mobililty was fundamentally broken

Pot kettle and all that, plenty Nvidia 'fluffy bunny brigade' posting that the 320 series drivers are OK and totally blown out of proportion in the 320 thread- with mind boggling replies along the lines of 'they are fine', 'just use them and rma if the card goes faulty'.

Pointless argument to an extent crying wolf over already agreed poor mobile driver support from AMD where they pass the buck over to the laptop vendor and until they push the same kind of effort into their discrete mobile gpus as they are doing with their desktop gpus, then Nvidia will continue to dominate the higher end mobile scene.

But laptop gaming is largely not of question in this thread never mind OcUK Gfx forum on the whole as it's 99.9% discrete gpus on discussion.

Which has went way, way, way off what Carmack actually tweeted, which was that he prefers Nvidia hardware over AMD, nothing more, nothing less.

Which may/may not change now that ID's probably got dev kits running full AMD tech now for the foreseeable future now that their main concern is consoles anyway.

AMD/Nvidia will always have problems, some worse than others either way(discounting hardware wrecking drivers).

History dictates(usually) with Nvidia users claiming that AMD's 'worse' with AMD users defending, with the 6 series onwards, that claim is 100% gone IMHO.

Your not interested in the AMD product I have, and I'm not interested in a list of bugs I don't experience, so why do you continue to bait me?

I sold a 7950 for the same reason as my 670's became available in their place

I'm not bating, 7970m has a world of issues of its own, it was clear i was taking about AMD drivers in general with MechWarrior online and not the 7970m and even when i spelled it out for you that i have no arguments when it comes to issues of 7970m you carrying on.

If you had only said this i would not have said a word as 7970m is a mess.

You did it too yourself and there is nothing more to say.

Careful guys. 4 members of the forums have recently been given extended holidays. We do not wish to add to that list. Keep on topic, no trolling or baiting. IF you feel that is the case then simply ignore the comments. You have been warned. - w3bbo

Its funny how some users use broken and or unfinished graphically bug ridden games to back up there opinions.

Huh? Way to misread what I wrote :p I mentioned RAGE because it was a crap game. I.e Carmack's opinion isn't as valid as a developer that actually is still making games that people want to play..

With regard to drivers both work really hard to fix bugs etc. All the fanboism is lost on me, I use AMD and Nvidia without getting emotional over it :D

I didn't misread it because that was my point, its a crap game and i don't know why people are making such a fuss over it like it was an important game.
And then needing DLC to be able to go back and do the things you missed.

My last issue with AMD drivers was with my 4870x2. Twas a nightmare to behold. The 2 4870 i had before ran without issues, the 5850 and the 2 7950 i have now runs without major issues. On the nvidia side the last time i had serious issues was with sli 560 ti's. In between the circle of friends i have and myself and people ive helped i have seen 1 dead 590gtx, 1 dead 570 gtx, horrible flicker issue on 560 ti(hardware issue, fixed by increasing the volt a lot). On the AMD side ive seen 1 dead 4870x2 which was my own fault as i tried to decrease the temps by fitting another cooler and i rushed the job.

AMD hardware has been solid for the desktop. Cannot comment on laptops other than my friends new alienware with a 7970m which Works flawlessly but to be fair he is only playing magic 2014.
