Good for Villa. Shambles he gets left on the bench to the likes of Sanchez.
Not really, I like Villa a lot and while he's played wide left for club and country and he can be perfectly fine there, ultimately he's a centre forward and he's playing second fiddle to Messi. Sanchez primarily plays on the right when he starts and the wide left position tends to be filled by Iniesta more often than not. So ultimately Villa is mostly competing with Iniesta and Messi for starts.. at Villa's age its not like he can hope to get more starts as time goes on. Wasn't too sure why he ever went there, Eto'o, Ibra, there was never room for a top class striker, though he got to win a couple league titles and the champs league, something that wouldn't have happened (most likely) had he stayed at Valencia. He's won everything significant now so can go look for first team football again. Better to have been a bit part player and won those titles than to never win them at all.
I can see why atletico got him and I hope he can play well there but that team has been crazy defensively focused in the past couple years and they would often use Falcao as a battering ram, I'd prefer to have seen him at Spurs, he'd get loads of the ball, loads of chances and be great to see in the league.
Ridiculously low transfer fee... I imagine it has a lot to do with Villa's preference, if it was just down to the transfer fee Spurs should have doubled the fee and paid it in one lump. 5mil and spreading it over 3 years.... lol, what a state most of the Spanish league is in. Shows in my mind exactly how profitable the Falcao sale was for Atletico... they probably ended up with almost nothing while his investors get almost all the profit. I also have no problem with that, Atletico couldn't afford him without the investors funding the deal in the first place, nor could they afford the wages he was being paid. Just a shame for Spanish footie, the top two take all the tv money and the rest have become pray for investment groups to pump up player values and take all the rewards.
On Higuain, I think across Europe he's very much under rated(though Real fans love him) and I would have liked to have him. But I've said before that getting him isn't going to turn Wenger into a winner or fix the fundamental problems. We've had truly world class squads and strikers before and failed to win things for many years, we've had massively stronger squads than this one + Higuain while not winning and while a truly world class striker is important it was far from the most crucial or biggest improvement the team can make. Of course Higuains dad has been all over the press saying he's likely leaving, fact is he was relatively second string in the last couple seasons and as a player looking for a move is sensible, if Ancelloti has come in and said " you're my starter" why anyone would think he'd leave is a mystery. Ancelloti may have come in, decided to get 25mil for him so he can buy Cavani or something, or he might sell Benzema to fund a huge move, who knows.
Official offers don't mean much of anything, same way clubs can negotiate with players either with or without permission. You offer when you know they'll accept(most often) negotiating unofficially till you come up with numbers and make an official offer.
