Aircon fatally wounded?

So on nice 150 mile road trip in yesterday's heat my car started making a hissing noise, I could see some very faint mist/fog behind the car and then the noise settled but my aircon was dead. I guess the aircon coolant has leaked out. As the cant was otherwise fine I just finished my journey in the sticky heat.

Is this a local VAG specialist job, dealer or aircon specialist fix? Not sure where to take it.

Thank you :)

Local aircon specialist would be (Hopefully) the cheaper out of the two, but I am not sure how far they go, my Vectra needed a new condenser and whole front needed to removed (Vauxhall dealership)

Way your saying it sounds like a hose has given up! but a pressure test will determine whats gone.

That doesn't sound too bad, I'll drop it in tomorrow and see what they think.

Sadly I've got 150 miles home today, hungover and no aircon.

My condenser had a pin hole punched into it from a poorly fitted jubilee clip. Cost me £75 for the condenser, £25 for a new receiver/dryer and £40 for a regas. Fitted everything myself and then got someone in to regas.

That's beyond my abilities :D

Got a local guy coming to have a look today. Reading around the golf mkv has a tendency to exploding its compressor, I guess the a3 has the same system, can't see any obvious holes though.

I am so glad I got mine fixed. It is so hot at the mo and hopefully will be when we head off on our driving hol in a weeks time! Just hope the aircon keeps working!
