eBay purchase, should I worry?

Hmmmm I never claim my written english skills to be great but that ebay item ad sucks.

"THERE IS MISTAKE !!!!!DESCRIPTIONS SAYS LOCK TO VIRGIN MOBILE-THERE IS MY MISTAKESMARTPHONE IS UNLOCKED !!!

I'm guessing the seller native language might not be english.

Anyhow me being made nervous by their ebay ad aside they do state postage within their ad they will post within one working day with an ebay estimate of 2 days.

"* Estimated delivery dates include seller's dispatch time, and will depend on delivery service selected and receipt of cleared payment. Delivery times may vary, especially during peak periods."

So basically ignore anyone who say's your impatient, you've paid for the item with next day delivery so you should get your item and next day delivery. Your expectations for delivery are fine and anyone who think's different is just being contrary for the sake of it.

I would give the seller some time before thinking the worse of them.

Quite a few years back now I purchased some computer parts from the bay. Tried contacting the seller no response, parts didn't show. I just rode it out at the time and gave them the benefit of the doubt.

It paid off because when the seller did infact contact me it turned out he had been in hospital having an operation as he had been diagnosed with testicular cancer therefore (a) couldnt send the stuff out and (b) i'm sure he had a lot more on his mind than contacting ebay buyers.

Everyone has their own lives and unfortunately cant predict just what might be around the corner.

Anyway the guy apologised for the delay, (obviously told him not to worry about it as it was out of his control) and the stuff showed up a few days later.

Update on this, I got refunded by eBay as the seller failed to respond. Good result.

I bought my last phone off eBay as it wasn't available in the UK

You can tell if you are going to get scammed. If you say dispatch within X days it's only fair to drop an email and say of its gonna be late.

If they don't reply probably a scam.

I had no problems with mine from states, the guy was even decent enough to mark a low value for customs clearance :-)

Not Always bad, but you must check feedback. Not just for the number, but past items, value of items and years on ebay.

I paid more for this phone than on some other items but I'd rather the and not have the hassle of disputes etc.

Only ever had one issue on ebay, thought it was a scam but went for it knowing that any problems would be sorted by PayPal

You mean it's the obvious result.

Why do we get these ebay threads? Paypal protection means that you can send as much as you like to someone with zero feedback and not care whatsoever. You cannot lose. The whole point in the eBay/PayPal system is that buyers can buy with zero risk regardless of vendor.
