During the lovely wonderful weather what are good places to visit apart from the obvious places?

By "obvious" I mean Brighton, Bournemouth etc

I'm looking for places that are up to 120-130 miles away from London max - somewhere in the south. So Cornwall is out of the question probably.

Folkestone has a nice beach and the town is OK for a day out

- GP

Edit: For reference it has several, one of them is sandy, the other is rocky

Channel Islands?

I went to Jersey in October (Was still t-shirt weather) and I'm going to Guernsey on Friday. Jersey seems to be the slightly cheaper of the two and they both have similar things to do (Beaches, Sea sports, Seafood restaurants, Castles, Nazi occupation museums).

There are conveniently timed flights to both on Friday evenings returning Sunday evenings from Gatwick.

Further to MickeyFinns post above, I would suggest Guernsey if you want a bit more of a relaxing holiday, Jersey is more like a small UK town (nice enough but perhaps not as relaxing as here!)

We have some of the best beaches in Britain, some excellent restaurants and plenty of outdoor events. There are various options if you enjoy water sports as well as the smaller Islands which are a short ferry journey away which are nice to visit (Herm is 45 minutes away and has a couple of lovely beaches as well as having no cars on the Island!)

We too have some tremendous occupation museums if you're into that sort of thing (the one by the airport I always find fascinating) as well as some recently restored Nazi bunkers and batterys that are free to visit.

Boats from Poole and Weymouth are good value (Condorferries.co.uk) and flights from Gatwick and plenty of other airports (flybe.com aurigny.com blueislands.com - aurigny would be my recommendation).

If you need info on accommodation just PM me in trust.

I've got my hotel (The Yacht Inn) and sea kayaking booked, any tips on any good seafood restaurants and pubs? We're not too fussed about checking out the occupation museum (Visited the one in Jersey before and we're only in Guernsey for a short time), can you recommend any of the restored bunkers in particular? Cheers :)!

Come to the south coast of wales, we have beaches all over the place and there is nobody on them hardly ever so you get peace and quiet

Too busy bothering the sheep no doubt.

Poole
Weymouth
Etc

Kernow is a 4 to 6 hour drive from London, so too far for a day out.
