Your point was 'much bigger club' not 'a bit better at the moment'.
I did say at the moment.

As I said, last season I said he played well, that's nothing to do with goals.NokkonWud said:He was by all accounts, very good last season prior to injury.
I know what I said. I then had to draw your attention to it again, and then you quote it? I am confused.

In general they are of a similar stature. The league placings being really the big differentiator recently.
I don't think you can say bigger club at the moment. You could possibly argue better in terms of recent league placing but bigger is so much more than that. Fanbase, history, league positions, value of squad, revenue streams, ground... it all comes into it when you are talking about the size of club.

It will be interesting where Everton finish in the next two or three seasons now the main man has moved onto pastures new.
Why on Earth would he want to go to Everton ?!
Erm, how about because Everton are a much better club than Villa, with far superior aspirations? Ignore the history that you've won a European Cup (as going by history, Everton are bigger than Man City), over the past few years, Villa have been rubbish, while Everton have consistently been battling for European spots.
So yeah, that's why he'd join Everton.

And you really think Everton are going to remain consistent after their super glue for the last 10 years has left? Doubt it.
a) have they won any domestic silverware in the past decade?
b) are they playing Champions League football next season?
He's therefore no more likely to win a trophy, and play in no greater competitions by moving to Everton - we all know the Europa League is bobbins.
If by "far superior" aspirations you mean qualifying the Europa League, then yes, this is all they can achieve, especially now their talismantic manager has gone (who's won nothing), and their best players are likely to follow.
As a consequence, Villa's aspirations of mid table, is not far dissimilar to that of Everton, who are aiming for 6th.
Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea all have "far superior" aspirations, as do Spurs, but Everton? no, I don't think so.
Our aspirations will be to improve on last season's disappointing 15th, so mid-table is the aim, as the gap in points isn't vast.
Everton's will be a top half finish 6th to 10th, bearing in mind the departure of Moyes, a new manager who has new ideas, dealing with the (potential) loss of Baines and Fellaini.
Not poles apart by any stretch of the imagination.
I'm fairly sure that Martinez will actually be aiming higher than 6th, though whether he gets it is of course another matter. Considering the way Villa played at times last year, I'm sure their first goal is 40 points and safety.
It was your opening gambit to justify his signing, as opposed to performance based.
Don't worry Karl.
Yes, he'll be aiming higher than 6th. Do you think he joined a club like Everton, with the players we have, and the league finishes we've had, and thought "I know, I'll just be happy to keep them in the top half"? Are you really that deluded?HAHA - higher than 6th!
Well if anyone knows about 40 points and safety....it's Martinez.....hang on.....
