Well to those guys who picked 1440p over 120hz I think you both made the right choice.

Currently I am using a Samsung Sa700D, it runs at 120hz and was very happy with the picture and gaming qualities and for the price it was last April, it really is a superb monitor.

But, for the last week I have had the use of a Dell U2412m and am really amazed at how good it looks. What surprised me was how good it was to game on. I am a first person shooter, didn't switch over from CRT until 120hz monitors were mainstream, and wasn't expecting gaming to be as good on the Dell as the samsung.

It was so good that I am thinking of changing over to a 1440p display myself.

same here i swapped from a sa750d which i brought last year, and i to was pleased with the picture, but now i have tried 1440p i will never go back to 1080p as the picture and graphics quality is in a different league. one thing i will say is make sure you have a good enough card to run it.

Sorry dude, but that makes it sound like you think the dell is 1400p?

I was opposite.

I went from the Samsung 120hz to DellU2412M and then back to another 120hz monitor - BENQ.

Going from 120hz to 60hz is just so noticeable. :/

Have a samy 27" 120hz at the mo but looking to get a 1400p soon, proberly going to keep the 120hz for online stuff like counter strike and play on the 1400p for single player prettyness that way i get the best of both worlds although saying that im also tempted by a 21.9 monitor

I have stopped playing FPS games of late, which was the main driver for me going to 1440p. I did open CS:GO and BF3 and the difference between my 120hz BenQ and the 2770 was interesting, especially given the monitor options for scaling on the BenQ. I dont think I could ever play competitively on a 60hz monitor in games like CS:GO, but for blasting faces and running around with a rocket launcher, it is excellent.

No, I know the dell U2412m only goes up to 1920*1200, but the other guys like Tweaker and Briggboy81 were making the choice between 120hz and 1440p.

And after trying out the U2412m, it has confirmed for me that I want a high resolution IPS monitor, which is why I said I would be upgrading to 1440p as soon as I could like the two guys did.

Yeah, everyone is different :p

I just enjoyed the extra space the dell gave me while working. And for gaming, I guess I must be slowing up, because I didn't notice too much difference.

Or maybe my Samsung is faulty and I am not getting 120hz properly.

Im currently on a sammy 24 1080 60hz and im wondering which is the best way to go 1080 and 120hz or 1440 and 60hz I use this mostly for gaming and everything from d3 and supreme commander to bioshock and UT so I just dont know which to go for
