Car for parents - £12k budget

Ok so my Dad is now serious about going out to look for a new car.

However, there are 0 Mondeo Titanium Petrols anywhere near where we live (and only 1 national that's similar to age, spec and price we are looking for).

P.S sorry for thread revival!

EDIT: Found this Mazda 6 local. Are they as highly regarded as the Mondeo? They seem more equipped?

It depends what trim levels you are looking at. But comparing my 09 Titanium X Sport Mondeo to my friend's Mazda 6 Sport (Both highly specc'ed), the Mazda doesn't match the Ford. Obviously, going down a few trim levels, both are probably as well equipped as each other. They are good cars though, and that Takuya has a nicer centre console than a non-nav equipped Mondeo.

I thought all retiring parents had to drive a Honda Jazz, they do around where I live anyway. All in gentle colours, pink, lilac, pale green, light blue. And they don't go faster then 40mph even in 30 limited areas.

Oops sorry got carried away.

Andi.

The gearing makes going over 40mph prohibitive because of the noise - unless you have the hybrid or CVT versions.

Another recommendation for the mondeo, just in case they find one the 1.6 Ecoboost is a very nippy car for what it is with plenty of torque and fun in cornering. It is 160 BHP and 6 speed box, so you get good fuel return, I get around 33ish urban and 41ish combined and not quite a light right foot .

On a motorway I can get 46 mpg and like I said it does allow for some "fun driving" on twisty roads and gets down the road well and sits nice on motorways. I help my friend down the garage and the 1.6 ecoboost feels quicker than a 10 plate 1.8 focus with 20,000 miles on the clock. A very nice car.

The problem is, there is only 1 petrol Mondeo near us (dad isn't willing to travel far), and it's an automatic.

The Mazda I linked seems to be highly equipped compared the Mondeos I have been finding as well. Not bothered about Sat Nav. It has front and rear parking sensors (essential), cruise, a/c, electric windows, half leather seats, climate...

Just wondering if the Mazda is as good a car as the Mondeo?
