Hi all as title, My gaming is at 1920 X 1080 @ 144hz, will I see a big drop in FPS? When funds are available I would like to go SLI.

Any thoughts would be great as I would like to push the button today :)

I'd say 2x6970's would be slightly quicker than a 770. But at 1080p I doubt you would notice too much difference as a 770 is blazing fast for that res anyway.

let me know if your selling your 6970's :-)... as for performance 6970 x2 is a little faster than a 7970 so it will be faster the 770 only by a whisker

Well i have pushed that button, I know i will have a drop in speed but i've always read that Nvidia has more stable frame rates and smoother? Well so i have read.

Well fingers crossed that i will love my new toy :)

Well I now have my Gigabyte GTX770 Windforce3 in my system, spent some time removing all the old AMD drivers fitted the single GTX770.

So coming from a crossfire 6970 to a single GTX770 i was not sure what to expect, all I can say it has completely blown me away :-0 I thought I would see a drop in overal performance but BF3 is the best I have ever seen it play.

Played BF3 for about 3 hours last night and I don't think I ever see drop below 70fps average was around 100-120fps.
Now what I now understand is this minimum frame fluctuation with my crossfire 6970's my FPS would be all over the place I've seen drop down below 50fps on many occasions and just general stuttering could never work out if it was lag or just poor FPS.
Now with the GTX770 it is just butter smooth BF3 just plays so much better no lag at all no screen tearing no stuttering also with much higher minimum FPS it's just so noticeably better.

Was I suffering from Micro Stuttering ?? I don't know I've always read about it but unless someone was setting next to me while gaming and said " that's it that's micro stuttering" then it's hard for me to see it.

This is my first ever Nvidia card and at the moment I'm thinking why oh why did I not do this sooner :( also there seems something different about the image quality as well just much more detail? Like seeing rivets in some steel works on some of the maps, I was spending time looking around me more and saying to myself " I'm I've never seen this bit before?"

Well very very happy in my upgrade oh and most of the time in BF3 I would have the settings around the mid to low in graphics settings when I started to increase some settings yes I was getting a lower FPS yet the game play was still butter smooth no sense of stuttering or lag wow if I ever changed settings on my 6970's I would feel it more and more often than not just lower the settings back down again as I wanted the smoother feel but with the 770 there did not seem to be a negative just a better looking game.

Very happy bunny :-)

Glad you are happy with your new card :)

Like I have always said, definitely buy the fastest single GPU solution you can afford. SLI and Crossfire are fine and dandy when they are working well on a game that is well optimised for it but there are just too many variables overall. Aside from the heat, noise and power consumption issues you have microstutter, driver issues and inconsistent performance.

Yes I hear what your saying there about a single card, But I also read that Nvidia are much better at dual cards?? or is that from a fanboy point of view?

It is definitely true that Nvidia handle multi GPU's better than AMD. Their drivers are generally better optimised too.

Of course this may change with the next wave of AMD cards...

In 18 days time, not the next gen of cards. Frame rating drivers are due at the end of this month. Radeon pro makes my crossfire 7970 set up smooth anywhoo.

Ok sounds good :)

Was this regarding AMD be measured at 21 frame were as Nvidia was measured at 22 frame, Well something like that??
