Unfortunately HPI checks don't and can't check and highlight any non claimed/announced bumps, crashes, scrapes whether fault or non-fault unfortunately :(

Is there much point in doing a HPI check when it has already been bought a few weeks ago?

yes, because then, despite it potentially being on the register, the OP will know this for when he comes to sell it on.

its bad that he hasnt checked it already, but given the issues he has highlighted, I would personally want to know if it was my car.

OP. if it is on the register, take it as an expensive lesson learned and always HPI check any car you are potentially going to purchase.

its not the end of the world as if it has been crashed, it could have been repaired to a decent standard. but it will affect your resale value.

do you have any copy of the cars listing from the internet or advert etc?
if it isnt HPI clear, the dealership should have made this very clear to you.

edit* just seen that its hpi clear, may be worth having a specialist inspect the area around the badly fitted bumper for any repairs or impact damage because as said, a car can still be involved in incidents without it being reported on insurance database. HPI is only a guide

If it's been mapped it might already be well on it's way to destroying the current clutch, so sadly you won't get that choice. :p

Lets hope it goes during my guarantee lol. They cover all parts. I don't thing the clutch is bad its the clutch pedal the makes light click as its pulled away. Bite feels good.

When you say mapped and the turbo going above half how far we talking? Ill test it on my drive in the next hour.

rjkoneill: is that my car youve checked? Orange st?

Ive had two body repair guys look at it and both have said inside engine bay appears original. Just don't know if any damage behind bumper.

Have you got a pic of the car? My father used to do a lot of work for pinetree (front end resprays, alloy wheels etc), mind you the gaps would have been right if he'd done it :p

If it's remapped it will go to 1.2 bar under full throttle and stay there, if it's not mapped, it'll go up 3/4 of the way then level out back down at half way.

And something is wrong with the gearbox by the sounds of it, mine works right away, all the time.

Its not mapped, doesn't go anywhere near 1.2, it goes just above half no higher.

There's been obvious work done as the very bottom of the bumper is black the whole length of the front and the alloys have been sprayed but i really like the colour of them.

Gearbox is silky smooth when driving its just in the mornings its stiff. Feels odd but once it pops in its fine.

rjkoneill: sorry i read your post and just assumed its was about my car. Apologies.

Do you park your car on an incline/decline, any service history? Any records of Gearbox oil getting changed?

No record of oil change for gearbox. Ill get it done. Ill upload some pics in a bit. The alignment doesn't really look that bad in the pics.

Its parked pretty flat overnight.

The alignment isn't just the bumper, the bonnet is sitting too low and the wings are slightly pushed in where the door opens.

The headlight washer was superglued on so I removed it for now until next week for repair.

Thanks man. I love it, best car i ever owned and i cant afford a mustang.

You cant really see it in the pics but but the paint lacquer is peeling off the front.

Aye sometimes you need to ignore common sense and bite the bullet. Enjoy and watch out for the loud pedal :D:D
