Mos Def - force fed like Guantanamo detainees.

"please no, please no" ahh the beginning. So I take it please no is not the safe word.

He and this video makes me ticked off, annoying cheap way to shock a few people who may not have known about the procedure rather than present information in a professional concise and precise manner.

Cheap and cringeworthy tactic, that guy really ticks me off!

Unfortunately, you can't leave it in place as it is a ligature risk.

But it's hardly a difficult procedure to perform or that bad to have done. We used to do it to ourselves at parties, attach a 50ml syringe to the end and whack tequila slammers down. Do a few of those then you practice cannulation. The bloke makes out like he'd just been waterboarded - seriously man up.

Err...what?! Are you a doctor? I can't decide whether it would be better or worse if you are!

This is a load of absolute rubbish, how can you find that "difficult to watch", he's clearly just trying to shock a few people who would actually believe that's all genuine.

Ridiculous.

I've had a tube pushed through my chest about 5 times. That was pretty uncomfortable. I think this is something he politically wanted to do, then realised that he wasn't strong enough to go through with it. But either way I guess he has made the point.

for the 'Blade' fans out there, best track from the 3 movies, I hate rap, but this is class

Mos Def and Massive Attack

It is no worse than some of the façades that American Senators use.

So because it happens to be about suspected terrorists, suspected and terrorists being very loosely used, who cares right?

We have let students practice doing this on us and its really not as bad as it look in the video.

Yep, completely over the top sensationalist video, lol at the little girl doing it in the video a few posts down from the OP as well.

Guess he wont be getting his mad props back at his project now after those crocodile tears.

I imagine being handcuffed to a chair and being restrained by angry men is slightly different than knowing exactly what's happening and not resisting, but yeah.

I found if hard to watch cos I hate stuff up my nose. Probably just the idea of it that freaks me out most. I'm a bit of a wimp!

I definitely think doing it under force is different to practicing it on yourself. Can't really make that comparison. You could say he's not being really forced, but people actually are being forced. So it's not nice really. But I guess they are likely guilty of worse.

I don't understand the link between Ramadan and "hunger strikes". You can still eat during Ramadan as long as it's after sunset. Surely the US isn't force feeding them because they simply want only their dinner and after sunset?

Wuss comes to mind when watching vid. All acting as we all know. Who's going to cry for that video? Maybe they should have made the tube bigger!

It is a sensationalist video. I'm sure Mos Def exaggerates a fair bit, but he's just trying to generate some publicity.

And yeah, Hedge is a wimp :p

Yeah, I didn't understand this link. US government said they were force feeding them only at night to respect Ramadan which is fair enough. The Muslim civil rights argument was:
"We believe it's wrong to force feed at any time but it is particularly upsetting to do it through Ramadan," said Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman of the largest US Muslim civil rights and advocacy group, the Council On American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). He said the situation was Kafkaesque: "It's not just a religious issue, it's also a human rights issue in violation of international norms and medical ethics."
But force feeing is keeping these folks alive - so surely that's a "good thing" in terms of human rights... (not the practice of force feeding).

Four of the 106 people on hunger strike have filed lawsuits because they believe "night-time feeding could lead to long periods without water, endangering the hunger strikers". Well if they believe they're being endangered, why are they on hunger strike?

I'm just confused. But then that doesn't take much...:D

Mos Def is a rapper/actor. Pretty talented and grounded guy. Not your stereotypical homeboy rapper.

Been in some good films.

Well that's one opinion. He first came to my attention when I saw this show a few years ago. Moron comes to mind.
