PS2 games on PSN - whats worth not missing?

Hiya,

I just noticed theres a small sale on selected PS2 titles and as I was real late to that generation I never went beyond the obvious big hitters. So just wondering what of the games on the PSN would be worth investing in?

The one that really made me make this thread is God Hand, Ive heard so many things about it but never played it, sounds like one of those misunderstood classics...

I have no idea whats on the ps store, but great ps2 games i would say were:

Devil May Cry (first one)
Dropship: UPF
Final Fantasy 10
GTA3
Metal Gear Solid 2

i know a lot of people say MGS2 and FF10 were the worst ones in the series but i absolutely loved them.

might also be worth noting, while dropship is a good game (imo), it gets hard quick.

Yep God Hand is a fun hardcore old-school beat'em up by the Clover Studio's guys (Their last game too if I recall) who as we would know, eventually went over to become Platinum Games. They'd carry that similar style over in MadWorld and Anarchy Reigns too.

What other selected PS2 titles are there on sale?

EDIT - Just had a look. Neo Contra is another I would recommend. Nice music too.

Think thats about it - only ones I was considering was God Hand for sure and was considering Shinobi maybe

Cheers Dockie, I dont think any are on EU PSN except MGS2 and GTA3, but will keep an eye out for them...

Maximo are apparently highly regarded, ive not played them personally but i can remember them years ago with some buzz around them.

Probably not worth getting FFX, as they're making a HD remake for the PS3.

I keep checking back, hoping they put Dark Cloud & Dark Chronicle on there, but no luck so far

Looks like they are influenced by Ghosts and Goblins so would be good, just annoyingly hard!

If you're willing to set up a US PSN account, you'll have access to a larger catalog of PS2 classics on the store. You owe it to yourself to download ANY Shin Megami Tensei games they have (make sure you get Persona 3 and 4 if you missed them on the PS2).

Ive got a US account just not funded, tbh Ive never played any of the Persona range, think all I know about them is the ability to blow up your head as part of a special move

. Have left me wondering what kinda access Gaikai will give us, might revisit all this once thats up and running in UK...

I highly recommend getting the account funded and picking them up

spent an unhealthy amount of time on them on the PS2, and their portable ports even more-so (especially Persona 4 Golden on the Vita). They're excellent games, and if they have Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call (or Nocturne as they'd probably call it over there) or the Digital Devil Saga I can't recommend them enough either.

it's not quite blowing up your head as part of a special move, in Persona 3 they use these "catalysts" for summoning Personas which resemble guns that they have to point towards their heads and pull the trigger.
