So i've been looking for a new graphics card since my HD6970 is getting its age on, having a few cooling issues and overall learnt my lesson about getting ref design cards. I've decided to go with Nvidia this time as i have a 3D monitor and i love PhysX so why not. However im looking to get the fastest card i can get with my budget of £380 or pushing £400 including shipping.

So i've done my research and i've seen the 770 trumps the 7970, 680 and is not always that far behind the 780 making me dislike the almost £200 price gap so i think im happy to go with the 770 price to performance wise.

So, im looking to get the fastest 770 i can get. Personally the GTX 770 MSI Lightning and the ASUS CU2 770 appear to be the cream of the crop that i have seen with the Giga 770 WindForce looking pretty fast too.

Opinions? :D

The lightnings are always reknowned as the best GPU 'brand' you can get.

You can't go wrong with them.. :)

You do pay for performance though. :)

I'm getting my Gigabyte Windforce today ;) and I will be coming from a crossfire 6970 so I will get a drop in performance but hopefully get another card at the end of the year.
Overclockers have the KFA2 with the 1202 core, this my first time with Nvidia so that brand I know nothing about, the Gigabyte Windforce has some really good reviews and have one of the best RMA's in the business.

What games do you play? And what sort of FPS was you getting with the 6970?

Would it not be better to get a reference and stick a water block on it because of GPU Boost 2.0?

I think you can still get free shipping from ocuk if you have 100 or more posts.

Yeah you have to be a member for 12 months, im coming upto that now in August 16th. I'm possibly going to miss out on that excellent MSI Lighting sale at the same time though as i don't plan to get the card until after that date then to get the free shipping whilst at the same time im conflicted to wait till October to see if AMD has anything to offer with the HD9000 though adding to that, i kinda want an Nvidia card over AMD this time for PhysX and 3D.

I've got the MSI Gaming Edition, love it. Easy to OC - Runs cool. Can't complain.

I was also looking at the Gaming edition. Not quite as fast as the Lightning because it's less overclocked but its still looking like a great card.

I actually like the design a bit better as im not a fan of the yellow in the MSI Lightning i prefer the red haha.

i'm in the same situation,

out of interest is the lightening much better than the gaming? I have the gaming mobo and wanted to go for the cliche black and red thing with the build but the lightening is yellow :'(

do they do replacement fan covers??

I have personally been looking at benchmarks for the past few days and i can say between most of the cards its usually nothing more than 5fps in some cases.

If you throw both of these website side by side you can see the difference between the cards.

- Lightning:

- Gaming:

As you can see from Far Cry 3, at 1080p its about 3fps difference and the largest i think i see is Tomb Raider with the Gaming getting 92fps and the Lightning getting 109fps. But pretty much for everything else its 6fps or less difference.

Sorry to throw a curve ball but i have the gtx770 EVGA Superclock and very happy with it, benchmarks not quite up there with the Lightnings though but i haven't really pushed it too far yet ie overvolting.
