Ibiza

Yeah I don't get the whole idea of flying off to somewhere outside of the UK just to get smashed and not remember anything, but hey whatever floats your boat right? If people want to get ****faced it's their money to burn and I don't really give a damn...

Yeah but still, that was just my dig at modern music :p

My point still stands, I could never justify spending £1000+ to go away, get smashed and not remember half the weekend.

You can do that here for £75 and it all ends the same, sore head and a puke bucket lol.

You're doing it wrong. You ply women with drinks, rather than yourself. That way they are more likely to help you in your quest for fur.

On the flip side I'm looking at using what I was going to spend on this year's holiday attending a Grand prix event, probably the Belgian Grand Prix. I know a lot of people wouldn't see the value in this.

Went there once in the 90's and have never felt the urge to go back. It was OK but pretty much everywhere else i've ever been have been more enjoyable holidays, even similar places like Zante ended up more enjoyable just because there was more to do a short boat trip away.

A group of my friends and I were planning on going to a greek island or similar mainly to chill, do some stuff and have a few drinks. The planning fell through and then it was just decided "**** it, we're going to Ibiza".

Consequently, I am no longer going on holiday this year. Well, not with that group :P. Similarly to the OP I don't see the value in just getting mashed and going clubbing. I'd prefer a mix of relaxation and activity based holidays.

You know you don't HAVE to get mashed right? ;)

Well tell them to **** off,it's ur money you worked for it (I hope :p) do what you want...:D

True, but if the majority of the group will be doing so, it's kind of difficult not to. Unless you go and do your own thing, then what's the point?

No I agree, it seems daft, nothing worse than being with a bunch of people that aren't in your mind set when you've spent some money going on holiday.

It was a little bit of a tongue in cheek comment ;)

I've been on a few "lads" holidays in the past, and was good fun, but fortunately the majority of my friends aren't too "laddy" when it comes to that sort of things so we were able to have a good time, with a few heavier nights - but without any dodgy experiences. I guess it helps when people all earn a decent wage as you're able to afford to stay in nicer places than some of the dives that exist at the cheaper end of the spectrum.

See this is why people get the wrong Idea about Ibiza IMO. It doesn't have to be a 'lads holiday' at all unless you want to get steaming drunk and be surrounded by british people in San Antonio West End.

Ibiza has something for everybody, you can make it any kind of holiday you like. Me and my friends go only to the big clubs and on the nights where it isn't packed out with Idiots, as we don't like the music at those other events anyway! The clubs are a completely different experience on different nights due to the events being so different. Different layout, different crowd, different music, different vibe.

I think too many people either think Ibiza is only like the west end, or only go once and only experience one part of the island and don't like the particular places they go to!

So much to see and do in Ibiza. Its a lovely place. Hell our folks even joined us last time and had a great time (they didn't go clubbing..!).

I have been 5 times and love the place. However I do know people that will get plastered, stay and not leave the West End for the duration. Each to their own I guess but this is such a waste.

I went to Ibiza a few years ago, two weeks after the clubbing season had ended. It's an incredibly beautiful island but there was evidence all over that a massive amount of human traffic had just been there and trashed certain parts of the island.
Enormous clubs aren't my thing but I did fancy going to one while there!

I never said anything to the contrary, but discoDave's friends are clearly after that sort of holiday, and there's no point in him going if he's not going to enjoy himself with his friends.

I enjoyed my holiday in Ibiza.

I wasn't having a go at you, sorry if it seemed that way. I was just generally ranting about people not experiencing the real Ibiza! :p

I'm 40 next year and would love to go to Ibiza raving! I love dance music! I never did things like this during my youth (too much geek time sat behind computer screens). Do they let oldies in the clubs? :p

Personally I found it the best 2 weeks of my life. I was young, carefree, had a big wedge of cash to burn, a love for the music and a great social circle.

Life was so less complicated and 2 weeks of fun with my best friends couldn't have been any better. The atmosphere is electric. Everyone loves everyone. Scenery is beautiful.

I wanna go back in time!

We'll go next year. We can 'pop in' to the nightclubs... :D:p

I like to go to Vegas/CA with family, and sometimes Ibiza with mates. I guess that says it all.

I love Ibiza (and the other party places), it's absolutely mental, but I wouldn't ever like it to be the main place I go. It's also pretty expensive for what it is, and I'd much prefer to spend the £1500 in the US.

It is great and I really enjoyed. It was that big 1st holiday with the lads at the time. And the clubs were unreal and the music great.

But once you go somewhere like SE Asia, Vegas etc I could never entertain the thought of going again unless it was for something like a stag do.

Never been to Ibiza but done similar things i.e. gone abroad with mates drinking/clubbing/festivaling. I love it. I'm 26 now and I'm definately not bored of all that yet. Will probably keep going until I'm into my 30s!
