No you weren't. Many a time I've run over to another area of the map where the other players were when my team was being crap.

i thought once you were part of a squad you had to stay in that squad for the whole game otherwise you would fail your objective?

can you change squads or did you just randomly play alongside another squad?

i googled and found this

its basically 32 vs 32 on 4 quadrants that make up a square shaped map.

so can you get from 1 quadrant to the other?

Yes, this. As I say, I only did it a few times out of curiosity or when my team was crap. We were never going to win the objective anyway so I went for a wander. :)

therefore it's not a true 256 multiplayer as the game forces you to stay within a section of the map going for your set out objective as part of 1 squad. it only ever worked in the domination part of the game too, other game modes had much lesser players as a whole, 128 players and then 64 players, which were also usually split up into teams and squads.

a true 256 multiplayer would let you do whatever you want on whatever part of the map.

the only reason the game worked was because it used dedicated servers and forced people to stay within a certain part of the map so not too many players were interacting within the same space at the same time.

even on PC the biggest i have seen on CSS is around 64 player servers with no lagg. any bigger than that and they lagg like hell and you can riddle people with bullets and nothing happens, due to server not being able to cope.

mw2 is horrible at times and even then that is only 32 player max on ps3, more games need dedicated servers. dedicated servers can take a laggy 32 player game running on p2p and turn it into a smooth experience for say 50 players.

run the dedicated servers for 1 year, then bring out a patch which switches to p2p after a year so people can continue playing online without being forced to pay for a new game.

this would be the best solution. but it would cost them more money and all they care about is profits it looks like.

anyone know much about DAC's?

was looking to buy a cheap one from amazon but probably better off buying a better one from Fiio (who make the best bang for buck DAC's and headphone amps) for a little bit more and then it will be easier to sell on or re-use in the future.

basically my current logitech wireless headset, uses RCA in or aux in to it's control box through the av port which is being removed for the ps4.

so i need to use the optical out now and a digital to analogue convertor (DAC) to change from optical cable to RCA for the same headset to be compatible with the ps4.

only problem is fiio sell 4 different ones and the D07 i was looking at isn't available for sale in the UK as of yet so looks like the D03 is my best bet.

anyone know anything better or similar for cheaper?

Really looking forward to this more so than the ps3/xbox. Going to pay my deposit this weekend.

All for the charge for online gaming if it improves the services but then again this is my second year of being PS+ subscriber

I'm all for paying for it as well. A lot of people moan that PSN isn't as good as XBL but they aren't willing to pay for it to be improved.

Anyone fathomed out where the HDD upgrade slot is yet?

has it been confirmed it can be easily upgraded by the user or are you all assuming this because it was possible on the ps3?

if it is possible then i imagine the have hidden the screw under a rubber seal which you can pop out, or under a plastic clip for aesthetics.

yeah its been confirmed you can swap out the 500gig hdd it comes with, no word on the spec though, but id hope its a 7200rpm model as there cheap as hell now. and hopefully not a green wd style power saving thing which are sluggish.

More than likely it'll be a 5,400RPM HDD, they'll be looking to save costs where they can.

I'm thinking an upgrade to a 750GB Seagate SSHD hybrid drive would be quite beneficial though, might look into that nearer the time.

probably as it will be a 2.5" drive again like the ps3 guess a full ssd maybe in order as they are getting a lot cheaper. just depends what it comes packaged with and what's on the market.

wouldnt it be better to let someone else do that first?

because ssd's made very little difference to the ps3's performance, therefore you shouldn't assume they would make a huge difference on the ps4, so i would wait until someone does some proper tests after upgrading.

the bus may limit performance so a cheaper SSD may work just as well as the most expensive one for example.

also i hope you weren't one of the people complaining about the price of consoles before pricing was announced and then going to drop £100+ on a hard drive upgrade. it will most likely be 2.5" due to the size of the console being similar to the slim and a 3.5" drive would be too large imo.

i wont be getting a ps4 till easter next year and i wouldnt swap out the hdd till i know its worth it.

as for the price i was one of the few predicting the £350 price point :p

well i was going to buy the console and 1 game, this way the £50 (£399 prediction) saving i can now get 2 games at launch, i just hope their is decent titles actually available at launch and the ones i want aren't delayed like they usually are by several months.

yeah, im waiting so i can hopefully bag a good deal come easter. also more games should have shipped by then and the mad rush and launch issues should be about sorted.
