Is it just me that prefers the drive of a diesel car?

Interesting, lots of the forums seem to support celtic tunings claims. Who was your remap with ?

My understanding on the dtec is the 180bhp lump in the accord is the same as the one in the crv, hence the huge jump.

Was an elite map iirc - I have/had no problem with the bhp figure, i'm just saying don't believe all you read.

If you were to put that 190bhp map on a ctdi you'd absolutely need a new clutch and realistically you'd want a fmic too to reliably reach the 190+....but after you'd put the intercooler on you'd need one of their custom maps anyway!

People on civinfo are generally very happy with their celtic tuning maps, understandably so as it makes a big difference to the car - but try and find a dyno of one of the standard maps, done independently

I didn't realise the dtec was 180 bhp, thought it was 150ish. If it's 180 standard then i'm sure it will top 200

Given that the OEM clutch has a habit of getting lunched by CDTIs and Honda aren't in the habit of replacing them under warranty an uprated clutch and DMF are near enough a 'must' for a remapped one.

At least that's the case on manual Civics, I'm not sure if this is the case for Accords and CRVs with the CDTI.

350 HP / 700 Nm, 0-60 in 5 and a bit seconds, 175 MPH, two turbos, 1735 Kg, an automatic transmission and this..

Why have you posted the stats of a Tuned 1995 Supra Turbo and a picture of a 520d??

I generally much prefer petrol engines, but, larger capacity petrol engines with more than 4 cylinders. I have no real objection to diesels, even 4 pot ones on a motorway, but at very low speeds or when you fancy driving in a spirited fashion they are rather nasty ...to my ears and in the way they feel, leaden and unwilling with an annoyingly narrow power band. The worst thing to me though is the idle clatter, it really gets on my nerves. This doesn't affect larger diesels nearly so much, the various 6 cylinder units out there are mostly rather good, the 5 cylinder Volvo one actually sounds really rather good under acceleration ...not so much at idle though.

I have been looking at quite a few cars lately myself, including some frighteningly 'sensible' lower powered options, I test drove a new shape Ford Focus today ...the 1.6 125bhp petrol version (I actually like the new Focus in many respects, it's come a long way from the old MK1 that's for sure) ....it was shockingly slow, I thought it was broken when I came off a round about and started trying to accelerate up a dual carriageway, the salesman suggested I might like the 1.6 diesel more ....he's probably right actually (at least it would have 'some' torque), but neither are for me that's for sure. To be honest, it made my 2.0 140bhp diesel Volvo feel really quite quick.

I'm sure the turbocharged Ford ecoboost engines are much better, however the 1.6 and 2 litre are a bit too expensive for me just now. Besides, considering the fact I can buy an E class mercedes that's 4 years old with less than 50k on the clock for the same price ...I'd be daft to look at hatchbacks anyway. Still, I was curious and like to keep my options open and the new Focus isn't a bad car at all, just don't get it with the 1.6 N/A petrol ...Christ on a bike ...bearing his cross would be swifter I think.

I did 10'000s of miles in Ford Transit connects and have to admit, I enjoyed everyone of them!
Superb vehicle for town/city running.
