Help regarding holiday allowance at work and ****head managers

Tell them that they were fully aware of this holiday at the interview and it is their responsibility to find someone to work the shifts. Honestly, show them you have balls otherwise they will treat like dirt until the day you leave.

Best advice here tbh. If you roll over once they will keep doing it over and over and over again.

it's up to them when they allow you to take your holiday, so yes it's a crap thing of them to do but they know they'll be able to replace you easily if you don't like it.

Manager has dropped a ******* and forgotten to take your holiday into account. I'd tell them I wouldn't be there and leave it at that.

Just turn up to work after your holiday.

I've had this in the past when working at Tesco whilst at college.

Told them I was taking it (I gave PLENTY of prior notice - all within protocol etc), and did so.
Came back into work and it wasn't mentioned once!

If it's Whitbread, then your holiday accrues each week (shown on pay slip). They don't like it if you go over this. Give Ceridian a call, if it is Whitbread.

Well i'v called in and said I cant find anyone to cover (its a very small team working a very busy high stress kitchen 4 days of full time cannot be covered this short notice.). I basically said I accepted this job knowing I was going to have this time off, other wise I wouldn't of accepted the contract I then double checked and you said its ok so I'm taking this holiday I would have let you know sooner if you had released the rota earlier but how was I meant to know?

He said we would discuss it on my next shift which is tomorrow so that's going to be fun. I am taking this holiday no matter what so looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Edit:
Which manager checked that it was there for you?
The manager second from top the one who does the rotas and stuff like that, he checked it was logged in the head managers books...

I hate to say it, but "stand & bang".....in the argumentative sense, of course :) Managers pull this kind of stuff with rotas ALL the time because they don't plan ahead, realize they're going to be short-staffed, then can't be bothered to do the leg work to fix it.....so they throw the ball in your court instead. If he won't budge then tell him you're going to call HR at head office and ask them for advice on the matter.

This is what I am going todo tomorrow if they still say I cant. Other wise I'm just going to go and come back and see what happens.
