Hello,

I'm pricing up and working on one last big build before I depart Uni and can't afford anything anymore, needless to say it's got the works custom sleeving, dominator platinums everything!

However I am hopefully going to be putting 2 Inno3D Geforce GTX 770s inside of it, which brings me to my question. I'm trying to find a backplate for them, and I've found one (currently out of stock on EVGA's website) but I'm not sure if it's compatible with the "titan style" cooler, and the latter issue of it being out of stock, and possibly costing a fortune to deliver to the UK.

SO! My questions are.

Where would you guys suggest I look for one? (I have tried google to no avail!)

And would the EVGA backplate be compatible with Inno3D's Titan Cooler version?

Regards,
Trip.

You can't afford anything? Yet you can afford to spend what I'm confident will be at least 1k on a PC?

Students....

Yeah these students today got it so easy man. What with 9 grand in fees, no guarantee of a job a the end of it, and interest on their student loans that they have to pay back to the government. All at the taxpayers expense!!!

I am really lucky that I was never smart enough to go to university.:D:D:D

Fairly sure the 'Titan Cooler' 770's are GK104's on the Titan PCB, in which case any backplate, aftermarket cooler or waterblock stated to fit on a Titan will also fit on a 780 and 'Titan Cooler' 770's :)

Just to clarify here, what I mean by being a student is this. I get funding from the government which is nice, I get Bursaries from coming from a "poor family" because pops lost out building trade due to recession and mum moved to NZ.

I was also the last year to get in with £3k a year fees :3 and to top off all of this I work about 20 hours+ a week! With little to no expenditures, food is cheap, I don't drive and bills are split between 4 of us, it's pretty easy for me to save up money. However most of that will change with me finishing my course.

Oh and the 3k - 9k thing, It's still about £5.50 a week when you earn over £21k a year, and they cancel it off after 10 years anyway if you haven't paid it all by then. Sooo... there's not really much of a reason not to go I reckon!

Why is it necessary to fit a back plate? Is this just for looks?

Entirely yes, it's purely just for aesthetical reasons as I'm trying to make the build as clean and trim as possible!

See this is what I thought as well but after looking at the EVGA website it came back with two very unique styles of backplate for the Titan and the 770 (and the 780 respectively)

Thanks for the warm welcome as well guys (; been a while since I've been on a pleasant forum!

Well unless I can get a couple of those 770 EVGA ones I think I'm going for a EK-FC Titan Backplate, apparently it's compatible with the 770 and doesn't require the full water block to fit on.

only downside is the water cooling logo and lack of water cooling components, but it certainly does look cleaner I guess! Thanks for all the help guys! (:

Hi,

the 770 Backplate should fit every card that do have ref design.
The Screw wholes at 780/Titan Backplate are different to 770. Also at the lower end of the 770 Backplate you can see a small whole, this is for a "big" component on the backsite of the card which the other do not have, if this component touch metal it can be possible that it occur a short circuit so I would defently go for the 770 Backplate.

Cheers
