AFAIK Roma are said to be offering a loan with a view to a £7mil deal next year. Its happened with player after player, he goes on loan, is crap they don't buy. Or he goes on loan, is great, they put in the bid, Gervinho wants equal or higher to what he's getting at Arsenal, deal falls through.

As for Bendtner, first atrocious behaviour, one driving incident amongst the hundreds of other driving bans footballers get is hardly atrocious, he hasn't attacked anyone nor made racist comments. On the pitch he's only ever had one bad year mostly down to no preseason, having loads of strikers at the club and a season ending injury just as he was finally getting fit, he was very solid the year before and always good when he played for us.

Likewise the media hates him, he said years ago basically he wants to be the best striker in the world... like every kid has ever said, but the media want to hate him so they bring up his "arrogance" constantly, because of one thing he said what, 5 years ago, its laughable. What arrogance does he show for Arsenal when he came on and worked hard whenever giving the chance, did he refuse to go to lowly Birmingham on loan?

Aside from that, the quotes from the chairman don't talk about wages either.

Bruchhagen said: "After weighing up all the arguments, Bendtner turned out not to be a realistic prospect.

"Now it's up to us. There are no problems with Arsenal. We have to see if it's financially viable."

A press that is anti Bendtner interprets that as wage issue's, I see that, after 3 years of every club offering for Bendtner giving up because Wenger was asking to much, as the same thing.

Wenger wants £8mil, then can afford lets say 4mil, all I get from that quote is they have no problem with Arsenal, but he's not financially viable.

In terms of wage, his current bird, mother of his child... IS A BILLIONAIRE, not million, BILLIONAIRE and royalty iirc. So Arsenal who have tanked dozens of bids for guys like CHamakh, Bendtner and many others because Wenger randomly wants big money for players he refuses to use, or Bendtner asking for too much because money is such a huge deal for him... which is more likely?
EDIT:- remembered the story a little wrong, his kids mother was married to a billionaire and is worth around half a billion, and they split up, but they split up and got back together plenty of times, no idea if they are still together... still he's not having money troubles, his kid won't and he's been unhappy at Arsenal.

I'm going with Wenger for 3-4 years in a row asking for too much for him.

When does Bendtner's contract end? Can't wait to get rid of him. What a waste of talent

Him, Gervinho and Santos are the 3 id really like to see us ditch at some point in the summer. Dont see the point of sending them on loan when they only come back the following year and we still cant get shot of them:p

Erm...

Sporting director Bruno Hubner has claimed the Denmark international indicated he would like to join the club, but Sky has suggested the proposed transfer will progress no further.

"He has signalled that he could imagine joining Eintracht Frankfurt,” Hubner said. “You know about the complexity of the story. It is up to us now. We need to examine if it’s financially possible.”

According to Frankfurter Rundschau, Bendtner had been ready to accept a wage cut from €4 million salary to €2.8 million.

This would have made Bendtner the top earner at the Europe League candidates, with current star players Pirmin Schwegler and Alexander Meier both on an annual salary of €1.8 million.

"We don't have any problems with Arsenal," Hubner said, suggesting that a transfer fee already had been agreed during the sporting director’s trip to London last week.

I would take that as they had already arranged a fee with Arsenal and Bendtner demanded more money, but you're so anti-Wenger I'm sure you'll see it whichever way you like. Sky are also going with wage demands being the reason the deal wasn't completed, as opposed to high transfer fees demanded by Wenger.

On the breakdown in discussions with Bendtner, sporting director Bruno Hubner told the club's official website: "We would like to thank Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for the constructive conversations and the high level of cooperation.

"There was interest from all three parts, but in the end it did not match up."

Do you think their sporting director would have personally thanked Arsene if he was the reason the deal fell through?

I'd expect Chelsea to get a top striker, which is just about all they need. City have already got Fernandinho and Navas. If Arsenal get a striker and a midfielder they'll challenge.

Your team was no better last year than Chelsea's and City's, and marginally better than Arsenal's. You won the league through Ferguson's ability, and that is now gone.

Oh please now we're only marginally better than Arsenal? We're crediting Fergie that much? Never ceases to amaze how A- we win the title in 10/11 it's down to a poor league, we win the title in 12/13 it's down to a poor league, City win the title on GD in-between and was it down to a poor league then? No of course it wasn't and B- any signing whatsoever equals improvement it doesn't matter who they are.

As far as I'm concerned teams like Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs dont even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as us, City and Chelsea, even without Fergie that will be the top 3 again next season, the others wont even be close. And as for City and Chelsea had we pulled off Thiago he'd of instantly been a better acquisition on the playing side than what either of those two sides have done such is the uninspiring nature of their transfer business thus far.

All that's happened thus far in this transfer window is Chelsea have got a manager that guarantee's success, City have swapped Mancini for Pellegrini with no guarantee he'll do any better and we've downgraded our manager with the guarantee that even with Ronaldo at his disposal he wont do as good a job has the man he's replaced. Players wise none of the sides are any better or worse off than they were last season.

^^^ Dont know why you even bother trying to make DM understand that its not all Wengers fault:p. I get more success banging my head against a brick wall than trying to explain to DM that what he thinks isnt exactly the gospel truth:p

Enjoying dithering Dave, United fans.

To be fair it should have been signed, sealed and delivered before DM came on board (officially) anyway.

Yet another one (it looks like) Utd let slip through their fingers

While he was never going to be the ONLY player Utd needed, he could well have been the most important (in regards to potentially convincing others to join of the same merit / potential)

Eh?!

Spurs - Pauliniho, already improves the squad. And they are buying more. A manager who's had a year to settle into his squad, and should push on.

Chelsea - Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and Ginkel already. That squad is immediately better straight down the spine. And they're looking at more. A manager who inspires every team he has been in, he's worth as much as any player purely for the impact he creates on squads.

Man City - Fernandinho and Navas, exactly what they needed, an actual winger who's proven in Europe and on the world stage. A driving force with goals from midfield, somebody to shift Gareth Barry to the bench finally, that's a big bonus. A remotely competent manager makes a big difference.

I don't see how they aren't already on the front foot with the loss of Fergie and our complete lack of signings, nevermind anybody we've been linked to supposedly moving to other clubs...

You're blind.

To be fair to Moyes, I don't think that he can be be attributed to all signings that may or may not happen in this window, so if things do fall through I wouldn't lay it at his door so much.

Fergie & Gill had been saying for several months there were 2 or 3 players that we were advanced with, it's not too far fetched that a lot of the people we may be after are from the previous management.

Of course, he's going to have a say etc etc, but I'm sure we've been working on transfers for more than just the period of time since he's been in the job.
